Thinkful: 6 Options to Pay for Bootcamp

In comparison to funding opportunities at other types of educational institutions, financing options for coding bootcamps are limited. Most bootcamps can't accept the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or other federal loans. In order to become more accessible to students looking to make a career change, Thinkful partnered with Skills Fund to offer more affordable financing options.

Thinkful offers online, fast paced, job-ready programs in web development, data science, and design. Whether you work night shifts, have a schedule that changes week to week, or you're ready to start learning full-time, Thinkful offers three different web development programs to accommodate the needs and schedules of all students. They also offer part-time, flexible programs in Data Science, Data Analytics, and Product Design.

1. Interest-only Monthly Payments

Interest-only payments offer the lowest monthly payment option. It allows you to keep your payments low while you are in the program. The payments increase around the time you graduate and receive full-time employment within your field.

2. Immediate Monthly Repayments

This payment plan allows you to pay off your loan as you go through the program. Payments begin during the second month of your program.

  • $289/mo for 36 months for the Data Science program and Data Analytics program
  • $306/mo for 36 months for the Product Design program
  • $314/mo for 36 months for our flexible, part-time web development program
  • This payment option is not available for other Thinkful programs

3. Deferred Monthly Payments

Deferred payments, starting during the second month of your course, allow you to pay fees and tuition over an extended period of time without taking out a loan. While the monthly payments for this plan are higher than the immediate monthly repayments plan, it allows student to pay down the cost of their education more quickly.

  • $500/mo for 17 months for the Data Science program
  • $500/mo for 19 months for the part-time, flexible web development program
  • This payment option is not available for other Thinkful programs

4. Month-to-Month Payments

Month to month payments allow you to pay as you go through the program. You will only pay the monthly payments during your time in the course.

  • $1,495/mo for the Data Science program and Data Analytics program
  • $1,590/mo for the Product Design program
  • $1,667/mo for the part-time, flexible web development program
  • $1,975/mo for the part-time, structured web development program
  • $3,520/mo for the full-time, structured web development program

5. Income Share Agreements

Income Share Agreements (ISA) are offered for Thinkful's full-time and part-time, structured web development programs. If you choose an ISA, you won't make payments on your tuition until you graduate and are earning an income above $40,000/year.

6. Scholarships

Thinkful offers scholarships to self-identifying women and US military members both active and discharged. This includes a $600 scholarship for the Data Science, Data Analytics, Product Design, and part-time, flexible web development programs and a $1,200 scholarship for the full-time and part-time, structured web development programs.

Job Guarantee

All of Thinkful's programs are backed by a job guarantee. If you don't get a job within six months of graduating, they will refund your tuition. You can take a look at their student outcomes - over 80% of their graduates have found full-time employment within six months of graduating.
