As a Post-Secondary school Accredited through Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC), we believe that education should constantly evolve. The NWAC | AdvancED is a regional Accreditation body and provides clear structure, organization, oversight, governance to the 32,000+ schools. The main reason Bottega has pursued, maintained, and advanced it’s Accreditation, is for the 3rd party validation that Accreditation provides. Accreditation is the process where an independent organization reviews the efficiency of the school; compared with other schools in the same category. Continuous improvement of the organization is not only a suggestion, it is an expectation. Student performance is consistently reviewed and compared with competencies gained, outcomes with program completion, and placement into the industry. We elect to have this rigor drive us as an institution dedicated to the student and to the tech industry.
Bottega chose to pursue Accreditation to master foundational learning and to provide a pipeline into industry and Higher Education. Our selection of AdvancED was intentional as we knew it would provide opportunities regionally, and in 78 countries internationally to certify learning of the individual student. We have advanced our offering to students by receiving CREDIT recognition from the American Council on Education (ACE). The American Council on Education (ACE) was formed in 1918, as a national association for higher education institutions interested in standardization, effectiveness, and reducing duplication in the accreditation process. By the 1930’s accreditation had become a well-established element of the higher education landscape. ACE and its member institutions have a historic commitment to adult learners. The council is best positioned to support the increasing number of Americans who take non-traditional paths to a postsecondary education credential.
The benefit to the student is that our unique focus on industry and education allows all of our students to gain credit and an official transcript that is transferable to over 1900 college partners. Bottega has worked with educators at the High School, College, and state levels to provide pathways for all students into industry and higher education. No longer should there be the discussion of traditional education vs. Bootcamp. We should be aligning all efforts to provide students with skills that quickly get them into a job and allow the training they completed to transition with credit into a degree while they have a job. If we look at the best candidates in technology right now, they have a degree and experience.
If we were to reverse engineer education, it would be to pull forward core principles and application that allow a person to transition into work in 12-15 weeks. The education would continue once the candidate was hired for a specific role with online courses. As the individual gains experience and attends classes, they would understand development with more depth and they would retain principles in and out of the classroom. That is the difference that Bottega is making. We fully understand the challenge of keeping up with technology and providing an opportunity for learners of all ages. However, with Accreditation, Credit distinction, and pathways that provide opportunity and hope, we are the emerging leader in our space! Education continually changes and the Ed-Tech space is set for continued innovation and disruption.
