Let’s face it, the post-bootcamp job search can be a job in itself!
With 40 hours or more a week of networking, scouring sites for the perfect gig, then submitting dozens (if not hundreds of applications) it should be no surprise the entire process can begin to feel overwhelming.
One of Coding Dojo’s alumni, Kelly Howard, recognized this, and created an awesome website as her final project in the 14-week bootcamp where job seekers can keep track of their job search all in one place.
Land IT, gives bootcamp grads and other IT job seekers everything they need to make their job search more efficient by:
1. Keeping notes on companies, job positions and interview questions.
2. Offering helpful tips and resources to aid in the application process.
3. Tracking the status of each application.
4. Documenting offers and salary information.
One of the more time consuming parts of the job search process is creating customized cover letters. Land IT simplifies that process by walking job seekers through helpful tips on how to craft the perfect cover letter, and even offers a free downloadable template to speed up the process!
Kelly said there are near-term plans to add a tool for job seekers to pull salary information based on taxes and cost of living in certain states, and then use that information to aid in their salary negotiations.
Beyond being packed with extremely helpful features, Kelly focused on creating a pleasurable user experience by incorporating design elements that keep the website simple and cheerful -- a contrast to the job search process which tends to be complicated or dreary.

Kelly is an avid traveler, gamer, coder and lover of good coffee based in the Bay Area. During college, she studied Chemistry and Art in preparation to go to med school. Instead of continuing on that path, she was trained in acrobatic performance, traveled the world for several years as a teaching partner dancing, and taught English in Korea. While traveling, she taught herself basic front-end development through online courses before deciding to jump head first into programming by enrolling in Coding Dojo’s full-stack developer program. Kelly graduated from the Dojo in 2016 with a double blackbelt (the highest achievement) and used Land IT to land her own job as a Course Manager at Udacity!
