Read More shouldn't expect to be successful if you aren't willing to work hard, sacrifice lots of free time, and struggle along the way, but if you commit to the program and follow the advice of the people trying to help you get a job, it WILL happen. I had an internship during my time at ACA and there were some new things that I had learned in class that the senior developers at the company had not even learned yet. Class times are optimal. They don't have any courses (that I know of) that meet during regular business hours, so it's very manageable if you also work a full-time job. ACA also prepares you for your job search. They have an extra job placement course at the end of all of your coding courses that preps you for interviews and helps you get your portfolio site/LinkedIn/Resume looking good for employers. Finally, the curriculum is very challenging, but this is a good thing! You REALLY get what you pay for. I HIGHLY recommend ACA to anyone interested in starting a career in technology!

I recently graduated from Austin Coding Academy's Full-Stack Web Development bootcamp. I started in August of 2018 and finished my last class in May of 2019.

During the course I learned everything I needed to know about web development to get an entry... Read More level position with a local marketing company - that is, we started from beginner (HTML/CSS) and progressed to advanced concepts (building full-stack web applications using MERN stack).

The course is taught by experienced professionals working in the field, so they teach you what you need to know to get a job. All of my instructors were incredibly helpful and would go above and beyond to make sure that I fully understood each concept. If there was something I was struggling with they would always offer additional one-on-one tutoring.

They also have dedicated staff to help with job placement - this is where they really shine. Dan Cumming helped me with my resume and coached me to be articulate on the subjects that matter most.

I now understand how to learn new web development technologies quickly and will use these skills the rest of my life. Not only did I learn enough to break into a new field, but I had a lot of fun and made great friends along the way!

When I started the Web Design program at Austin Coding Academy, I was a total newbie to the world of coding and UX/UI. I was looking for a school that was affordable and could teach me the skills to become a web designer. Now, after completing the program,... Read More I feel like I received a bargain. The curriculum is rigorous but the instructors are great at breaking down the material so newbies like me could understand. The staff was very accessible and reached out to me often to make sure I was progressing in the program.

After just a couple weeks into the Intro 101 class, I made my first website and by the end of the class, I was creating basic Javascript Games. In the 231 Intermediate and the 331 Advanced classes, I learned about UX/UI, advanced CSS, SEO, Google Analytics, PHP, Wordpress, and the business skills needed to be a freelancer. The program ended with a capstone project developing a custom Wordpress website.

For those who are serious about learning web design and are willing to put in the work to make it happen, ACA is the school for you.

If you want to know what it's like to be a developer this environment can prepare you. If you just want "new skills" you may not be satisfied with this format.

Personally, I wanted some new skills but wanted an environment to gain the "full stack" experience.... Read More Admittedly and in full disclosure I took this class twice. The second time was so rewarding to finally "get it". Note: It is not necessary to take this class twice and that is where I will focus my review.

This is a "part-time" class but you must expect to put in a lot of work to be successful. I did not prepare myself skill wise nor time wise to be successful the first time. If you know up front that you have to really put in time, effort and that this is not a "completion" type of class you will be very successful.

To better prepare for my second attempt, I attended several JavaScript workshops to brush up on my fundamentals. It's so important to understand JavaScript fundamental concepts especially Objects; how to access and loop them. While you will be taught these concepts knowledge of them is a huge advantage. If you take 211 before 311 you should be ok. Otherwise, just make sure you are solid on JS fundamentals and Objects. Not taking 211 makes 311 more difficult but not impossible. If you are wanting to become a full stack developer take all 3 classes and trust the process.

The prices is super affordable by comparison to others camps. The job assistance is outstanding. The TAs & Instructors are genuine, knowledgeable and there to help you be successful.
