As a software engineer this is highly valuable as technologies change and you have to keep adapting to new ones ever so often. They consolidate your foundations during the junior part and in the senior part is really when you apply everything that you learned. You are not shackled by the technologies that you learned, but encouraged to explore and create a project which will help you learn a lot. During my job search I often found the technical challenges to be not that difficult as the course had prepared me really well for it.
