Lighthouse Labs was a good experience. I had the chance to learn Ruby, Rails, Sinatra, Javascript, jQuery and general programming concepts.

Read More and by the end of the course you are able to create an app by your self, and for sure you are ready for learning programmings concepts a lot quicker and break the barrier of programming a lot faster

The number of students in class was quite big, and it was a little bit frustrating to do not be able to get help from one of the instructors or a TA some times. I believe the classes should have a small limit size.

In general it was a very intense time, +10h of programming everyday (including weekends) for 2 months, with a huge learning curve and good friends.

+ One certainly is given an exposure to multiple prominent tools, frameworks etc. e.g. Sinatra, Rails and Node.

- Often the purpose or utility of the exercises / assignments was unclear; often, the assignments provided no useful knowledge / skills towards... Read More the projects; so many assignments feel of no use at the end.

+ If one works hard, one shall be impressed with the projects one produces. Lighthouse successfully creates an environment for that.

+ There were some excellent TAs / assistants / mentors who helped to understand the problem and the solution.

- Sadly, they were all in the evening. The morning TA's mostly provided band-aid solutions or solved one problem only to introduce another.

+ Lighthouse encourages that relationships with it and one's cohort mates be maintained after graduation.

+ Lighthouse provides career services

- Those career services may be slow, especially on the Toronto side

Lighthouselabs was really good at introducing me to the wonderful world of coding. They have a great space in Vancouver and a well-structured program. They focused on teaching the programming language and then the framework.

The instructors, Don, Monica, David, Murat and Arvinder are all outstanding at what they do. Lighthouse provides on average 4 or 5 T.A.'s throughout most of the day that roam the working space to help students with any issues that may arise. The format is very self driven but with in my opinion the perfect amount of teacher help.

If you are considering making a career jump or simply want to learn web development.... Go to lighthouse Labs. Just make sure to bring your big kids pants because it is not an easy program by any stretch.

Attending Lighthouse Labs was one of the best decisions I made for my professional life. It taught me the skills I needed to pursue an old dream which was becoming a developer.

The fantastic instructors are well supported by an increasingly impressive roster of TAs and mentors, and the curriculum seems to be consistently evolving. Attending class every day in such a bustling entrepreneurial space (Launch Academy), with such talented and motivating people was really inspiring (and sometimes intimidating), but very beneficial when it came to pushing grads out into the workforce. It will still take a lot out of you to succeed in the bootcamp environment - hours are long, the flood of information is overwhelming and frustrations are high - but with dedication, focus, and at least a bit of a natural proclivity towards problem-solving, Lighthouse will give you the tools to get there.

The curriculum is great. It is carefully crafted to teach the principles of programming and give you a familiarity with the frameworks and tools that you'll be using in your day to day work. The days were long and the information and learning did not let up. Every day brought another nuance or layer to what you had already learned.

I was one of the fortunate ones who had a job offer before graduation. The career services is great. They help you craft your resume and get employers in to see your work and interview you. You graduate as a full-stack web developer and you will have a lot of on-the-job-learning ahead of you.

Web and Software development is a journey of continual learning. And Lighthouse Labs understands that and prepares you for it. It has the feel of a trade school apprenticeship, but it's much more.

About me: I spent 6 years working in Admin and Accounting (bookkeeping with some analysis). I quit because I was bored at work. It wasn't stimulating or challenging enough to keep me engaged. It took me a year to relax and think through what I wanted to do. When I learned about Lighthouse Labs, I liked what they were doing. Instead of working and saving up some money for tuition, I borrowed and jumped into the bootcamp. My salary has increased by 33% and I know that as I grow as a developer, my earning potential will be grow too.

Lighthouse labs provides tremendous value for its students. Not only did I graduate with a competitive skill set, but the school has also given me opportunities to immerse myself into the tech industry. Many of the teaching assistants are senior developers... The school also hosts and sponsors many events in the community which we are encouraged to participate in. In Vancouver, we are also next door to Launch Academy, which provides us opportunities to interact with entrepreneurs and other helpful people in the startup world.

The amount of exposure my resume has received is tremendous; Lighthouse's career services has provided me with more interviews than I have ever had in my previous career.
