When I moved to London a year after the birth of my second child, I decided to explore a career change from publishing to the growing tech sector. I have tried different meet-ups, but always struggled to make it to the locations by 6:30pm, usually the worst time of the day for parents of young children. With an all round marketing background, i never imagined being drawn to the tech world. I attended this program on maternity leave and in just 10 weeks, I learned the basics of coding which was a start to a future in coding and wanting to learn more. I joined the January cohort at M&S Digital which had first hand developers who helped through out as well as the likes of UX designers who gave talks on their journey. I plan to attend this child friendly program to continue my journey in coding. It's been a door opener and great experience meeting innovative startups and likeminded individuals thanks to mums in technology.
Attending Mums in Tech is a great spring board for ideas, whether you're considering a career in coding or have a business idea that needs tech input. I started with limited knowledge of coding, and a basic business idea - and came out with a better understanding of the coding landscape, a fantastic support network and clarity of how to move my idea forward.
Added that I could take my baby made this a fantastically flexible course!
