Read More coding so I was pretty nervous going into the boot camp and concerned about my ability to retain what I was learning since I am really, a hands on type learner. The way the courses were set up, and with guidance and support from the instructors, I soon realized I had very little to worry about. The instructors had an abundance of patience and were able to find ways to explain things in ways I could understand when I felt like I had hit a brick wall. If you want to learn to code...this is where you should go.

Read More concepts such as how to think about web development, and how to think about and tackle problems when I encounter them, which are skills and tactics that I use in my job today. Throughout the bootcamp, I learned fundamentals of many languages, so when I completed the program and realized I didn't want to focus on C# for my career, I had the foundation necessary to shift directions and move into React development without much extra education, now that I had the fundamentals down, I was able to quickly learn from self-guided free courses. The job placement team continued to work with me and provide guidance as I tried to decide exactly which career path to pursue, and Forest was great at making recommendation for job search tactics to target the types of companies I was looking to work for. The Live Project was great, incredibly valuable, and made it easy once I started my full time job to enter into meetings knowing that I have the confidence to talk about my work. My two cons for the program are that I wished I had a more personal relationship with the instructors, and I wish that I had been able to decide mid-program that I wanted to pursue a different path, and make that transition seamless and not requiring extra payment.

I learned so much. Since it was a bootcamp course it was very fast-paced, but it was still in depth and comprehensive.

I enrolled in this boot camp for more exposure to the specific languages covered in the program and to get some official documentation for my resume to back up the skills I had already self-taught. This boot camp adequately served that purpose. The program... Read More was definitely designed for someone with no prior experience. It covered the basics but never really went in-depth into anything and most of the assignments required little independent thought and lacked real world applicability. The portfolio you create during the program is mostly just following along with instructor videos and maybe making a minor customization or two. This is not something I feel comfortable claiming as my personal work product. The instructors were responsive and helpful when I reached out. If I hadn't needed the certificate, I would be far more disappointed that I paid $10k+ for someone to "teach me how to Google" (which is their constant theme throughout the program). I could have learned the same amount just by working my way through w3schools.com for free. Overall, I am not sure the level of content and instruction provided, alone, would have adequately prepared me to be a competent full stack developer.

This program really starts from the basics of how computers work. More important to know these things than you would think, helps with programming understanding. Very challenging and rigorous course. Their number one goal is to make you into a full-stack junior software developer and get you into your first tech job.

My particular python developer boot camp included HTML/CSS, SQL, Javascript, and Python. It sound like a lot but I promise it is worth the jump. Believe me I struggled but one thing that stood out to me through the entire boot camp is the willingness and patience instructors have. At time where I felt lost all it took was a email, text, or phonecall and every instructor I spoke with took as much time as I needed to grasp material. I had an instructor named Levi who literally had to deal with me most of the boot camp and no matter how much I asked he was patience and explained material in numerous ways until I could grasp it. So do not stress they want you to be successful. They are also very quick at responding regardless how you choose to communicate with them. Another thing I have to mention is through the boot camp I had numerous hiccups in life that slowed my progress down. If you are nervous about life getting in the way and believe you can not learn they are also very understanding. Life happens, things happen and I was almost incredibly shocked how they worked with me to see me be successful and graduate. On top of these points once you finish the boot camp material they have a job placement course where they teach you how to create a resume, a cover letter, how to interview and more. I recently graduated from the C#/.NET Framework boot camp at The Tech Academy. The curriculum is great, starting the student out with Computer & Technology basics course and moving into Software Development overview, Version Control, GitHub, HTML, JavaScript,... Read More SQL & Databases, Visual Studio and C#/.NET Framework. The courses work is done in a gradient manner starting off with the basics and moving into more challenging topics. The assignments and challenges test your knowledge and ability to take what you've learned and research to build on it to find the solutions. The final Live Project is an Excellent experience and introduction to working in a development environment. The instructors at The Tech Academy are always there to help and are very responsive. This is a self paced boot camp, and you need to be disciplined in order to keep up and stay on track. The school is very understanding if family emergencies arise as well. I came into this with a Technical background, but the way they lay out the courses, anyone technical or not can become software developer. Glad I picked The Tech Academy and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to change careers or further they're technical knowledge to make a move into another tech career as I've done.

I loved my time at the Tech Academy. After leaving my previous job at the beginning of COVID I was searching for a way to advance my technical skills with a remote learning option. Tech Academy was doing remote learning long before the pandemic, while... Read More other bootcamps were just starting to adjust. The curriculum included many of the top programming languages and I liked the self-pacing. I had previously been a computer programmer for about 6 years, but it had been about 10 years since I had written any code and I wanted to refresh my skills to improve my job prospects. The Tech Academy did exactly that with the Full Stack Software Developer program. Throughout the course I remembered why I loved computer programming and looked forward to each day of course material. When I encountered challenging sections of the course I always felt supported by the instructors. I especially enjoyed the final two-week team projects and felt sad that it had to end; kind of like going home after summer camp. I will be honest and say that the course is inadequate on React, and the Django section proved somewhat frustrating, but overall a really good experience. Be prepared to put in at least 40 hours per week at the computer or you will fall behind, as I did, and need to pay more money to finish the course. The job placement course and alumni support are outstanding. It can be tough to get a job out there right now, but the guidance they give, and the weekly meetings really help to prepare you and keep you motivated. The placement team called me more than once per week to provide feedback and encouragement. Four months after finishing the bootcamp I landed a job at Amazon as a Senior Technical Product Manager. Although I had previous coding experience on my resume, the course did refresh my skills to help me get a coveted position at an A tier company. The Tech Academy course material is relevant for the current job market and I would say the background education they give at the start of the course was helpful, especially during the system design and technical interview questions.

I can only recommend The Tech Academy to anyone I come across who might be even a little interested in technology and the wide world it encompasses. The instructors have helped me through many roadblocks to understanding the how to and implementation of so many concepts that I feel they have done their job exceptionally well. I can find the resources to learn what I need to accomplish for new projects and new technologies. No matter your age, background, or even like me if you can’t type well yet (I can now!), this is such a well executed program that sets you up for success. So many success stories close to home show I can do it too, and again the amazing support system all the way through to job placement has been a top notch experience! You got this!
