“IT is the future”. Everyone says this but there are very few who properly guide us to step into this ride. Not everyone is lucky enough to decide their perfect career journey immediately after high school. In this world where we are filled up with variety of choices, careers have abundance of choices too. These choices are there to confuse people who do not know what they want to pursue in life and end up choosing something that does not make them content either professionally or financially. I have been there. I ended up choosing a different career that was not as satisfying to me. After working for 5 plus years in the field of Finance, Accounting and Taxation I realized that this field was just not for me. I wanted to get into something that is exciting, challenging and more impactful. IT was always there on the back of my mind, but I did not have any computer background. Many people suggested me to go to bootcamp where I will be capable for 100k job in just 6 months. That already sounded very vague to me. Other than that, this time I did not want to get into something I do not enjoy doing. Learning process takes time. Someone bombarding you with all the information in a short period of time does not make you capable. That is going to make you more miserable. I was very clear on that. I met someone while I was working in a retail sales job who suggested me to try freecodecamp.org. That day I went to my place and started working on tasks on HTML in that website. Being able to see something written on one window in form of code being displayed on the other window just made me feel so good. I enjoyed doing some tasks here and there and learning something from YouTube. There was so much information out there I just got stuck what to learn and what not to. I bought some courses online too. I was learning something new every day, but I was not able to see where I was going with this. I realized that a proper organized class is the most important step to dip my foot into this ocean of Information Technology. Luckily, one of my friend’s friend introduced me to Master’s in Software Development program at Maharshi International University at Iowa. I can get my Masters in 1 year and they accept students from any other background. This was like a no-brainer for me. I joined the program, and it has already been like 5 months. I am almost halfway there to get my master’s degree. I just love it here. I am going to be a full stack JavaScript Developer after the completion of this program, and I feel really good for this choice I made. I don’t know it’s not just the degree I feel good about. It is the food they provide, it is the peaceful environment of campus, it is daily 2 time meditation, it is the interaction with professors. Everything has made me feel home here. I just love it. If anyone out there is wanting to get in this huge ocean of IT (Information Technology), I would definitely recommend them to check the MSD program at Maharshi International University, Iowa. Come here with a pure intention and you will not only get your master’s degree, but you will also be great professional with daily healthy habits. --Bipin Regmi— MSD student at Maharshi International University.
