Comprehensive Location-Based Bootcamp Lists Methodology
SwitchUp's annual rankings are based on over 25,000 student reviews of more than 500 bootcamps in operation. Our comprehensive lists of bootcamps by location are ordered by a combination of review scores and the number of reviews to highlight programs that have high student satisfaction rates. Because we list all bootcamps in a specific location, we don't consider these comprehensive lists "rankings." The ranked order is based on data at the time of publishing, but ratings and review counts will change as more reviews are left over time.
Comprehensive Lists of Bootcamps by Location
Our comprehensive lists of bootcamps by location includes any programs that meet the following requirements:
- Offer a bootcamp or program in a specific location
- For online-only programs, are based out of that same location
How We Ordered Location-Based Bootcamps
For the 2023 comprehensive location-based lists, we used a formula that combines the average review rating and the total number of reviews for each bootcamp from January 2019 to February 2023. We then ordered our lists with those with the highest score at the top, to focus on bootcamps with the most recent reviews and highest average ratings. Please see our review policies page to learn more about what is and is not allowed in reviews on our site.
We work with advertising partners to help provide these lists and reviews to students for free. As a result, some of our advertisers are included in these lists. However, we use the exact same methodology for all bootcamps and do not include bootcamps or give them a higher score because they are our partners. All advertising partners are marked with an icon for full transparency.
Data Sources
We created SwitchUp to help students make informed decisions when choosing a coding bootcamp. We primarily rely on bootcamp reviews from verified students and alumni to showcase positive, negative, and neutral student experiences.
Bootcamp Reviews
We collect student and alumni reviews and ratings on SwitchUp to determine which bootcamps have the highest student satisfaction rates. Reviewers evaluate how well their bootcamp did overall, the quality of the curriculum, and the level of job support their program provided. SwitchUp has dedicated a separate page to cover our ethics and policies for reviewers.
Additional Bootcamp Information
Information such as location, cost, and what's included in the program come from the bootcamp providers themselves. These factors don't impact the rankings, but we show them to help students find programs that meet their needs.
Offers part-time, evening, or self-paced classes.
Offers in-person instruction at a physical location.
Guarantees job placement or a tuition refund after successfully completing the program.
Provides part-time or full-time programs completely online.
Accepts GI Bill funds, according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
