The focus of the class is to teach you to "learn how to learn" which was super important to me when I was doing my bootcamp research. Obviously, it's impossible to learn everything there is to know about software engineering in 6 months, but what I love about this program is that they don't pretend to have all the answers to becoming a SWE (or to getting into tech in general). But what they do know is HOW to teach you the skills to be a life-long learner who can adapt to any future technological advancements and changes. I loved this course so so much and it changed my life in so many positive ways.

If you're on the fence about the commitment to a bootcamp, choose Actualize. You will learn so much that you didn't even think was possible and you will come out on the other side better for it. Also, shoutout to Rena Wengrow because she was the only bootcamp recruiter I reached out who didn't make me feel like I was a customer. Every other bootcamp I talked to (that won't be named) was extremely pushy and didn't seem to care about anything other than getting you to sign up. She was super kind and helpful in the whole process and that is very important when you're the first point-of-contact for a company.

Career support was adequate. I received actionable, timely feedback on my resume, LinkedIn, and portfolio, along with strategic advice for the job search. That said, Actualize doesn’t offer formal industry partnerships or hiring pipelines—something to keep in mind if that’s a priority for you. And with small cohort sizes, networking is more intimate than expansive.

Read More reached out based on my inquiry form, and the difference was immediate. Their email responses were prompt and personal, and my phone conversation felt like talking to a good friend.

What sealed the deal was their offer to let me sit in on a class before signing any contracts or making payments. This authentic approach carried through to our instructor, Brian, whose classes were focused, well-structured, and refreshingly honest. Although I'm sad to see the program end, I'm grateful for the great friendships I've formed and excited to be part of their strong alumni network.

As a teacher of computer science for many years, I had a decent handle on writing small pieces of code to accomplish limited goals. After deciding to give software development a go, I tried learning on my own all about the big wide world of true development... Read More where all the pieces fit together to form a large cohesive whole. I struggled mightily to put the pieces together on my own. Actualize was just what I needed to learn the details as well as the big picture. We learned relevant technologies with a level of rigor that was just right to keep pushing forward adding piece after piece to our toolbox until we could build an entire full stack project completely on our own. While we did not master everything during the weeks of our bootcamp, we did learn how to get there eventually through continued hard work and how to continue learning new things on our own after the bootcamp has ended. Looking back on how far we have come I am so glad I pulled the trigger on Actualize. There is no way I would have been able to achieve these gains on my own. And to think we did it all in just a few months is incredible. Much thanks to our teacher Brian who showed up for us each day and always seemed eager to walk through this journey with us, giving us all the exact level of help we needed to succeed well beyond graduation.
