I researched several boot camps before choosing Bottega and I'm glad I did. The instructor was with us every day with the goal of making sure we understood the material. Was it intense? For sure! I mean this is web development! But repetition breeds familiarity... Read More so hard work and success in the program go hand in hand. I read beforehand many people recommending part time instead of a full time boot camp. I would say now that is wrong. You want an instructor with you. Go full time. Also, embrace the struggle. You're going to struggle for sure, but that is where the deepest learning happens. Mistakes are fantastic because you remember them and learn a lesson! To sum up, go to Bottega and go full-time! You won't regret it!
For me I am a person who learns best in good environments and good teaching, at first I was scared about doing this. However I have a feeling this is going to be one of the best decisions I will ever do. learning from my teacher Alex was amazing, he is... Read More by far the best teacher I have ever had he has amazing patients and is so knowledgeable it made learning fun. I believe this a great start for anyone who wants to start learning how to code and I could not recommend this course enough.
Bottega is an absolute joke, the curriculum is mediocre at best mostly just videos and when you get stuck you are supposed to receive support from mentors to guide you thorough the program but they don't know anything and just send you the links to the... Read More videos. When I raised concerns to higher leaders all I received was backlash. The biggest thing promised is help to get a job at the end which is a complete scam and you will not receive any help. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY
I attended Bottega as a brand new developer. I had been doing pre-med schooling for quite some time before deciding to make the change. I was incredibly nervous to start, but the entire Bottega team from advisors and the job team to our instructors were... Read More so welcoming and encouraging. I am overall beyond happy with my experience with Bottega.
"Bottega has a fantastic coding bootcamp and I am so glad I went there."
I just graduated from Bottegas 3 month full time program. The teachers really care about your success and make sure you are actually learning the material. It is hard work but in my opinion it is totally worth it. I am a 38 year old mom who knew NOTHING... Read More about coding going into this and now I can build the front and backend of almost any application. They also teach you HOW TO TEACH YOUR SELF. I can confidently say I can build anything because I know where to find the documentation to make the code run. If they can teach me to code they can teach ANYBODY lol.
"I went from no experience at all, to being able to apply for Jr Developer jobs in 12 weeks."
Bottega is an amazing program. The staff is kind and genuine and is always rooting for the student. I felt that they all truly wanted me to learn the material and succeed. Bottega promotes creativity and does it in an efficient and fun way. I really enjoyed... Read More the course. It was only 12 weeks, but I had no experience before, and now I feel confident in learning new content and writing my own code. I have never learned so much in such a short period of time. The strategies they use to help students learn is so efficient, and it allows the students to really understand material, not just go through the motions. I loved the course and I recommend it to everyone. Bottega is a great investment! 10/10!
This course was extremely challenging and fast paced! That being said it offers a great solution for getting people the skills necessary to get into the industry. Since it is so short, you are able to not take too much time away from work and gain the... Read More skills necessary to become a developer and gain valuable skills. But you must know not to take the course if you are not serious because it will just be a waste of time and money. I had a great experience with the program, my teacher was amazing at providing all the help desired and a good teacher overall. They provide you with all necessary tools to succeed in the program.
The only pro to this school is those who help students with zoom calls, other than that, I have nothing good to say. I spent six weeks working with someone representing Bottega, who assured me Bottega is an approved school for WIOA. I cannot afford tuition... Read More as I am unemployed due to Covid, I wanted to code, so I started looking for Schools. I was told Bottega helps people all the time in Colorado, not the case. I spent hours doing the coding foundations for nothing, a complete waste of my time. Taking advantage of people during a Pandemic, lying to them, just to get Students, is terrible.
"Do Not Go to Bottega The school is not honest and is Misleading."
In November 2018 I started the part time Software Development program with Bottega. I struggled with the content of the program and stopped at 17%. I thought that maybe it was because I was working full time and was trying to learn by myself. In the summer... Read More of 2020 since I was not working I noticed that Bottega had a full time program with an online instructor for the same program. Myself and a few other students in my cohort had switched from the part time program due to not being able to grasp the bulk of the material. Mind you if I had to code along with the video this part I could do. But executing it or being able to fully understand the concepts without doing it with someone I can not. I had originally signed an ISA to pay back 10 % of my income for a certain amount of time. I switched to the full time program and to my surprise the content and material was the exact same. I had to agree to pay back 16.5% of my income. The instructor DOES NOT TEACH you watch the same videos that you would watch in the part time. They start a zoom meeting and push the buttons on the videos. They give you the quizzes in the platform and sometimes make up their own quines. Do not pay more for full time. Unable to learn the core concepts I did not want to move forward so I asked to be placed in the next cohort. When I told the instructor how I felt and that I didn't want to continue not learning anything he tried to convince me to keep going. I thought that it was just me. Then a few class members reached out to me and guess what? It was not just me. They agreed that it was the structure and content of the course. After trying to study and go back over the material I realized that it just was not for me. I notified the school that I would not be continuing with the program. I stopped at 33-34% of the program this time. After notifying the company that I would never get a job in the industry or complete the program their nice willingness to help changed. The entire tone of the messages changed to them being upset and telling me that I was going to have to pay for the portion of the course that I had completed. I told them that I was not and that I did not agree to this. The school is run by a husband and wife. The wife (admissions)said that she would contact the financial team ie. her husband and they would let me know the portion that I had to pay. I had to contact them per the company that I signed the ISA with to tell them to remove the ISA. Her husband then said that I had to pay a prorated amount for the portion of the course that I had finished. This is not what I agreed to and I will not be repaying any of it. I agreed to pay once I completed the program and got a job in the industry. Also when I resigned the new ISA I didn't notice that they took the industry part out. So now if you complete ANY AMOUNT OF THE COURSE. Bottega will try to get money from you not matter what industry you work in. The company is run primarily by a husband and wife so there is also a conflict of interest in admissions and the ISA. The husband is over the instructors as well. They push that they're accredited and in the process of becoming a University to try to make them seem trustworthy. Do not be fooled as the delivery of the content is done by one person on video who most of the time hops around on topics, over explains, under explains and says don't worry if you don't understand this a lot. Please just find another boot camp. Find one that is not misleading and that does not seem to be only concerned with the money. For me it was the way that the content was delivered on most of the videos. Those in the cohort that were beginners like me struggled as well. There were two with prior knowledge they did better. Bottega does not have technical interviews that you have to pass to get in like most bootcamps. They let everyone in. I think that this is a dis-service to those that may not be able to grasp the concepts. From what I have experienced I feel that they do this for the money. If they let everyone that applies in and even if people don't graduate or become software developers they will still try to get paid....They are not truthful in telling you this upfront. If I could give zero stars I would.
Thank you for your feedback. Here at Bottega, we strive to constantly improve and strengthen our service. We also strive to find individuals with passion and creativity. Two qualities that we feel you personify! There are a few concerns that we would... Read More like to remedy.
Bottega is accredited by the American Council of Education, an organization that routinely and rigorously checks in on our curriculum, how it’s taught, our numbers, and rewards us with accreditation to keep students from being taken advantage of. Our students can go to https://bottega.tech/accreditation/ for more information. Within the last year we have continued to work on making improvements in every area of Bottega and have implemented a requirement for all of our students to complete the Coding Foundations Challenge course before they sign up for the Full-Stack program. This serves as our technical interview. It requires dedication and commitment from our potential students.
Our company is run by some fantastic people. Fili Ledezma is our CEO and President, Shayne Roy is our COO, and Jordan Hudgens is our CTO and head video instructor. As our video instructor, Jordan Hudgens has a lot of experience with building web applications, mobile applications, and has been teaching for years as well.
Our videos are designed for students who do not have any prior experience in the software development field or for people who want to further their knowledge in this field. There are countless stories of individuals that have gone through the program and have been uplifted from their current life situation.
Our full-time classes cater to those that need a live instructor while going through the course videos. They are there to help keep our students on pace to finishing in 3 months. Our instructors are really passionate about what they are teaching and they want to be able to help students grow so they can live up to their true potential.
The part-time option is catered to giving our students the flexibility they need to still be able to do other things in their daily lives, but our students have to make sure to reach out and get the support from our instructors and mentors when struggling. All of our mentors and class instructors are graduates from the Bottega program and know the material well.
Learning something new can be incredibly difficult, that’s why these videos, tests, and projects, give our students the chance to practice and implement. Coding along with the videos is a great way to learn and understand material. Students are encouraged to rewatch the videos, to pause as they go, and to ask questions when lost rather than just watch and listen.
We understand that part-time isn’t for everyone, which is why we give people the option of transitioning to full-time if needed. Since we provide students a live instructor and other added tools for the full-time option, there is a difference between the pricing of the full-time and part-time programs. Due to this pricing difference the payback percentage does change when a student decides to switch over. In the ISA Leif agreement we encourage our students to read through the contract completely before signing it. This allows the student to be fully aware of their obligation, especially about the section that gives information on withdrawing from the program and having to pay a prorated amount.
Due to the 2020 pandemic and the shutdown of many offices, we were forced to make decisions about changes with how our school was structured for the safety of our employees and students in order to keep the school running as smoothly as possible. This included having to set up ways for employees to work from home and still be able to run a classroom setting for our Full-time students to the best of their ability. This also includes setting up zoom meetings for everyone to be able to go over the material of the instruction videos together as a class with the live instructor present and available to answer any questions or assist with any concerns that students have. With the fellow students being in the class as well, everyone is able to help one another.
Bottega truly wants to change lives and give hope. We are working to give our students the education and tools they need to become a successful software developer. We are willing to do everything on our end to help our students as best as we can.
I looked at several code bootcamps before I chose Bottega. I was interested in learning ReactJS and that was a major portion of the curriculum. Bottega was challenging and difficult. The curriculum is such that you code along on big projects that help... Read More you see what is possible and do smaller code challenges that stretch your abilities.
