As a graduate of a 5-month full-time onsite web-dev course in Code Academy Berlin, I can say that it’s an excellent school. There is a nice working culture and the course program was as expected or even better.

I had a really good time at Code Academy Berlin. At first I was very skeptical, but with very little time I extended my comfort zone to all the positivity surrounding me. Starting from code reviews, one-on-one sessions with mentors, pair programming experiences... Read More with my peers and of course, our regular Friday pizza and beer parties made this whole experience absolutely lovely. It was also beneficial meeting people who are already in the industry and attending career week, which catered to understanding the culture of the Tech industry. I would definitely recommend this program for anybody (beginner or experienced) who is starting off in the Industry.

This bootcamp for coding is amazing. I was one of the first students. I did the Web-Dev course for 3 months. I wanted to do it for 5 months, but got hired and the bootcamp definately helped :) The teachers are great. They explain things well. At the same... Read More time, they never force any solution onto you - because in coding there are always many solutions (which is also something I learned in the Bootcamp). The team is young and fresh, my main mentor has quite some experience from working in the field. Perfect mix of knowing how the real world looks like and beiing able to explain everything to a freshman. The teaching method is also great. From day 1 on you work independently on your own project - You get some input and then you immediatley try to implement it in a little (or bigger) project. This is very close to working in the job later. To give you an example of a project: create a website, get data through an API and build some filters. If you are stuck you can book a mentor and they will help you get further and solve your issue. For my most complicated bug my mentor had a solution after less than 1 hour and had an even better solution the next day. Yes, they are very motivated and want to show you the best solution. Also for the job interview and the interviews they were really helpful, answering all my questions, supporting me when I had doubts. The only downside I can see is that it is one big room and it can be noisy, when another group is having a lecture - even if there is some kind of separation this does not really work accoustically. So bring your headphones ;) Oh and for corona: the only downside is that the windows can only be opened electrically and when you want to open all the windows for getting fresh air, the electric system does not allow that, so you have to open one window after the other (and then close them one after the other). The atmosphere is great. I felt like being part of a littel family and I still miss them.

Overall, a wonderful 5 months, full of learning, challenges but also interesting, open-minded people!

I joined Code Academy Berlin's Full-Stack Developer with Specialization Module course in March, and I only had great experiences during the five months. The curriculum is well structured, and it helps students learn step by step but still gives challenges... Read More at every stage. All the projects we've done started from designing without any templates and defining each goal. I found this to be a significant variation to other bootcamps, and it made a huge difference for my learning. In the process, the mentors are always by your side whenever we need them. I really liked that the course was not all about lecturing! It was also about learning the "how-to" learn new programming languages or frameworks by yourself to achieve the goals. I find this very important because we will face similar situations in the workplace in this field! I would say one of the Code Academy Berlin’s strongest points is its mentors! They guide us so that we learn coding and web development as much as we can in an effective way. They welcome any questions that students have, and they are so patient until we understand and solve problems. Also, they lead us to learn workplace-relevant soft skills in this journey. The communications in each stand-up meeting, giving presentations, and receiving feedback; they all helped me gain confidence and learn how to communicate with others, demonstrating workplace-like situations. In addition, the career week was also very effective! We had a whole day workshop with career coaching professionals to learn how to ace interviews. The career mentor, Jost, gives us feedback on the CV in one-on-one meetings, and I was able to substantially improve both my CV and my LinkedIn profile. I learned how to personalize it in my own way. Before joining Code Academy Berlin, I was in the "online-courses-trap"; I was never able to create a project I was confident in. But my course at Code Academy Berlin taught me how to learn coding by doing, and it gave me great confidence in my skills and potential. I definitely recommend Code Academy Berlin!

Having gone through the full-stack program under Lucas and Ottavia, I can honestly say that the course is well worth your money. You'll get out of it what you put into it, but the tutors are there to help you, have tremendous patience, and are always... Read More willing to go the extra mile if you're interested in more advanced information, or simply want to better understand the basics. They're flexible, great fun to work with, and are as happy to have a beer with you on a Friday as they are to tell you why your Java backend is seriously flawed. What's great about working with people like them is that you can have the confidence to risk destroying your code, in the pursuit of understanding it, and they will always do their best to help you understand where you went wrong and how to streamline what already works. It's a great safety net and something that keeps beginners from feeling overwhelmed, while those with a knack for the work can always push themselves farther. I loved my time under their care and the skills I've gained with them have gone a long way, both at home and abroad. Jost, who provides the majority of the job support, is also great at what he does and will do everything he can to make sure you walk away with multiple in-roads into your new career. I'm so happy to have been able to do the course with them as the acting team.

Let's be honest, learning Data science is not a "piece of cake", new challenges every week but working with real data from some of the biggest players in fields like e-commerce or social media made my experience more complete and exciting. If I had the chance I would definitely pick this course again.

Read More small group learned on a very personal level, from a scientist with PhD to total beginners. The basic concept of Code Academy is to mimic real job life. That's why not only learning and practicing codinging is part of the concept, but also working on e-commerce projects, presenting to customers etc. At first I had to get used to the self-teaching principle, but I was taught right from the beginning to find many solutions on my own. When I experienced blockers anyway, our tutor was always there to help. The tutors and administration are very supportive when it comes to preparing for job interviews etc. I also enjoyed learning together with and from people from around the world! Very cool experience alltogether!
