Cons: Nothing to do with the course, but even with flexibility, the course can be challenging at times - especially the milestone project - but really worth it. I had heard about the Code Institute Full Stack course and was drawn to the fact that it was informed by industry and had career supports, which for me as a career switcher, was crucial. The course material is comprehensive and well presented, backed up by a student support team for when you get stuck. The Slack group of fellow students, past and present, is a brilliant resource to help find solutions and forge new connections. As I approached graduation towards the end of 2020, it felt like a monumental task to get myself job ready for a career in tech. The Careers Team have loads of tips and tricks to transform your CV and LinkedIn profile to enable you to showcase your tech skills. The regular webinars with industry partners give real incite into the tech industry and provide an opportunity to network. It was a slight disappointment that the course did not cover a frontend framework, but I understand this has now been addressed allowing students to specialise in either frontend or backend development. Having now secured a role in tech I am thankful that I chose Code Institute.

I had no other IT experience, I began applying to internships and jobs after my 2nd Portfolio Project and got internship at my 6th month of education. And before even graduating from course I was employed as Full Stack Developer.

I recently completed the Full Stack Software Development with eCommerce course with Code Institute. I found the course material to be concise, clear and very insightful. Between the student care team, tutors and mentors, there was a wealth of knowledge... Read More and support. And the fellow students and alums all using the Slack channels were like knights in shining armour, coming to the rescue all day and night to offer support and advice on the projects. I'll go into some more detail below. Slack: Slack is a messaging program widely used during the course. There are different channels for each stage in the course, general discussions, neurodivergent learners, and even programming memes! The people there are very friendly and jump at the opportunity to help a fellow student. Course Material: The course material is laid out in ways that help all kinds of learners. There is a range of videos, text and even practical tests of the material you just learned. The best part is the online deadlines are for the projects. All you need to do is submit your project before the deadline, but if you are quick to finish, you can start straight into the next project which gives you more time for harder subjects. Student Supports: There are four main supports provided. A tutor for your class group who leads your standups (weekly progress check-ins). Mentors help you with project progression, offering advice on features and project development. Tutor Support help with any coding issues you may come across, and lead you to solve your own problems instead of solving them for you. And finally, Student Support is available if ever you have any issues with the course, or if you need things like extensions. They were amazingly supportive when I lost my brother, they helped me get an extension on my project and additional support if needed. Careers Hub: Once you finish the course, Code Institute don't just pat you on the back and send you on your merry way, they have an entire careers guidance support and regularly updated careers seminars and job alerts. I was thankfully able to get accepted to my new position the same day I received my final grade thanks to the cv, cover letter and LinkedIn classes they provided post-course. I am very thankful to the careers team who helped make this possible. In summary, I could not speak of the course more highly. I know everyone has different experiences but mine was incredible.
