They also provide lots of resources including some step by step coding exercises. The teachers... Read More love the topics and are happy to discuss more in depth even outside of the class hours. While some of what they cover is more of the "theory" side of things, the camp itself is more focused on the practical, and they were very clear about that; even mentioning that someone who is an expert in a field who learns data science would likely be better than a math person who tried to do analyses in that field. In other words, you don't need to be a math whiz, which can be a pretty encouraging message. At the end of our bootcamp, they offered to talk to anyone interested in a job, as they said they had friends who were looking to hire. The resources are also available after the bootcamp ends (nominally for 6 months, but it sounded like they weren't going to remove our access). This is probably a sidenote, but important to mention, I (and some of the other students) were able to joke around during the classes, and whoever was leading the class would usually join in or at least laugh along. They didn't get mad we were talking in the chat (my class was online), and even continued some of the jokes we made. Very welcoming environment.

One of the instructors described my bootcamp as having greater breadth than depth, and I think that's the most apt possible description. The 16-week bootcamp I completed covered a wide array of subjects in or relating to Data Science, and definitely helped... Read More familiarize me with how Data Science relates to business problems, various machine learning algorithms and their applications, and even engineering data pipelines. The exercises and additional materials including recorded lectures, handbooks, etc. are quite useful for learning about any of these more in depth as well, and the instructors were all quite knowledgeable and helpful about the topics. The drawback though was that with the incredibly wide breadth of topics covered in such a short period, it's difficult to obtain a more advanced understanding of any topic in particular without devoting significant time to undertaking more self-directed learning. The class won't make you an expert on Data Science by its end, but it will give you a basic understanding to build on and tools to use for self-teaching.

Read More able to keep things easy to understand while still providing a challenging environment to grow. They never balked at anyone or made them feel small and I was never afraid to ask a question. Office hours were a great time to get 1-on-1 tutoring too. I feel prepared and ready for the next step in my career. I would definitely recommend.

Want to know how to evaluate data, clean it, visualize it, polish it, and feed it into a pipeline... Read More for machine learning? Want all of this in a five-day course? Look no further. I didn't know lists from dictionaries before this, and now I have a lot of essential tools at my disposal to do bioinformatic analysis for my graduate research. Not only that, but all of the course material is available to me for an additional six months after the course ended, so I consider more than five days of instruction. Plus, the instructors make sure they are available to help you and set you up for success. To add, I really liked the style of this course, and I think it is so pragmatic for learning programming. I love that our live sessions were recorded so that we can go back and see exactly what we saw before. I think my favorite aspect were the instructors, because they were very kind, knowledgeable, and made everything less intimidating. I love that the instructors were all around the world too! Read More Machine Learning Models, to parameter tuning to text analytics and linear regression (and much more) - many relevant topics were covered and explained with such patience and good examples that even someone like me from a more non-technical/non-mathematical background was able to understand and follow along. The instructors were empathetic and extremely knowledgable and welcomed students' questions at any time throughout the course. The homework was appropriate and voluntary - the suggested reading material was interesting and contributed to a better understanding of certain topics.

The boot camp provided me an overview of all key machine learning tools in a practical way that I could apply them in my work, and grow my expertise. I would highly recommend it.
