This course did a great job summarising the fundamentals of the Perl programming languages before testing the students knowledge with helpful examples. The instructor was quick to respond to any questions which is always important in a course like this when you need a nudge. The issues I had with the course were mostly editing the code. The fullscreen option did not work on my chrome browser as it would only be about 1/3 size of the screen. Working in a text editor from a shell had a delay for updating to geekuni which would eat some time and cause minor frustrations if you run the code before it fully updates. The actual content of the course was excellent as it seemed to follow in flow with how the creators of the Perl documentation (and the creator of Perl) wanted you to learn it. My most difficult subject was references within Perl and I would've liked if there was a little bit more practice for the basics on that topic before jumping into projects (i.e. practice dereferencing array of hash references and other complex data structures). Other than that, I think further reading should be listed as pre-requisite reading at the top but that's me nitpicking. Overall, one of the best programming language training courses I have taken as it highlights the strengths (and weaknesses) of Perl. We got to ingest datasets and utilize CPAN and google API's which was fun and interesting. Would recommend geekuni courses.
