My Story:

After receiving my Bachelors of Science degree from Loyola University Chicago and simultaneously completing an intense six month course at Comp-U-Learn in Chicago, my first professional job there was as a software developer with a consulting... Read More company. While working full-time, I simultaneously enrolled in other computer science courses (C++, Java, etc) at a community college during weekends. I also enrolled in a two year online Masters of Science in Computer Information Systems program. In order to move up in the field, I also changed jobs very quickly with my last job being in Motorola as a software engineer. After having children, we moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana for my husbands job.

Since there were not many opportunities in small towns for IT back then, I wondered what I would do there. Then I realized I can go to medical school in Indiana...where I could do my first two years there and then the third and four years in Indianapolis. So I pursued medical school and then went into Radiology and obtained further training. During these years, there have been amazing advances in information technology. These advances in technology have had a big impact in basically all fields including Radiology. So after my MBA, I wanted to re-visit IT and was looking up some courses on Python and I happened to find this AI Datascience course being offered by MIT. In addition to my job, I have multiple additional interests including research, teaching, innovation, business, etc. As a result, I thought this course would bring me up to speed on all the latest technologies.

After enrolling in the course, I had second thoughts about whether I'd have enough time to complete this course. As a matter of fact, I postponed it twice after paying the deposit due to multiple distractions (new house, moving, etc). The program managers were extremely supportive and encouraged me to re-enroll in the course. The course itself was awesome and I even had the session on Generative AI! The amount of teaching the professors and mentors did during the sessions was incredible. The weekend live mentored sessions and live lectures were great and the MIT professors did an amazing job teaching the material! It's also wonderful that I will have access to the course material for the next three years!

In addition, there were plenty of materials for self-study and extra use cases for practical exercises. Altogether, these elements helped me gain strong knowledge, practical exposure, and confidence in this domain. For working professionals looking to strengthen their understanding of AI, machine learning, and data-driven decision-making in a structured and credible way, I found it to be a valuable learning experience.
