"This course does not prepare you to be a developer."
Their online text based curriculum jumped from one topic to the next leaving you wondering if its going to be covered more in depth later, which it is not. There is no instructor. Instead, to answer your questions, there are two "mentors" , which are... Read More prior students of Next Academy, per class that arrive around 10:30, even though the day is meant to begin at 9:30. They then lunch from 12:30 sometimes until 2:30. They do try to give some instruction via a 30 minute "Breakout" from time to time, which means they code a project for 30 mins and you have to hope to remember some of what you saw during that time. Its basically just a study hall where you can get some questions answered if you're able to find a mentor. Several students dropped the course. When I asked to resit the class as advertised on their website, I was told no because, "I'm no longer a beginner student."
Hi! Thank you so much for your feedback. I've shared this with the team.
In these recent months, we have enforced a stricter schedule for the student where morning lectures would start at 10, with a grace time of 15 minutes, to encourage students to arrive... Read More earlier in class. Nonetheless, the classes are mainly still challenge based accompanied with breakout sessions. We have also included more compulsory group activities to encourage students to share their thought processes and their ways of problem-solving. With this, the groups are also required to share their solution with the entire class.
On resitting the course, the terms and conditions are clearly projected to potential students and we will always honour this where the conditions are validly met. And also, for a student who resits the course, as he/she has been through the course once, thus would be asked to refactor the previous code exercises and may also be asked to do additional challenges or additional research on key concepts.
