I really learning environment here. It has honestly made my thought processing skills more dynamics in terms of solving problems. On week 2-5 however, I honestly wanted to give up.
Maybe give a 10minutes speech every 2weeks on telling the students not to give up. I was obviously on the verge of it, but now, I actually love to code. Anyways , one mans opinion :x
One of the best decisions I make to further my learning on Digital Marketing was to join NEXT Academy's Digital Marketing bootcamp. Not only did Khai Yong did an excellent job in curating the list of superb mentors to mentor us each week, the course modules were also designed to highlight the essential skills needed to excel in Digital Marketing. I particularly like the deep insights shared by the respective mentors, as each mentor is an expert in their field of expertise and each has their own method of delivering the message across. The fact that each of them is an industry practitioner, allows us to learn what industry practitioners actually DO and not merely SAY to execute real life digital marketing campaigns that actually works. My only wish was that the course was longer, so that...Read more
Had a great time at NEXT Academy, 9 weeks that seemed to be as short as one month! Definitely a decision that requests a FULL COMMITMENT to get the maximum out of it ! Don't be fooled by the advertised schedule and be ready to work everyday until 10.00pm to redo/review what you did/learned during the day! (I did not and I regret it). Mentors are always available and willing to help so raise your hand after (really) trying to figure out by yourself for 20 minutes. I would also say that working with your team mates and changing partners really helps as it gives you different types of explanations ! Oh, the presswork seems easy but make sure you understand what you did... Take notes during prep work !
Thanks for NEXT giving this opportunity to learn web development and meet new ppl. It was sweet and sour throughout the weeks of bootcamp but the result was satisfying. Just hope that cam get a web developer job after graduating, preferably with the help from NEXT as well.
I really enjoyed my time at next, and my feedback would be to try and always keep updating your content from the portal to the challenges, especially the apps that we build. It will also be amazing if you increase the number of apps that we gets to build instead of just 3, but overall, I thing you are doing very well. And I hope you will keep on improving.
Thanks A lot for a great 9 weeks.
One of the most valuable courses i've taken. I feel much more confident providing marketing expertise to my company. High quality mentors and In-depth valuable content provided (own experiences). Post-module followup (able to communicate with mentors again for further questions). I only hope that the slides were more modulated with extra details which mentors usually go into (like a textbook).
The bootcamp is hands-on and the mentors and the NEXT academy staff guides you through the whole course. I feel like I have learned so much within 5 weeks and it's not enough! There should be more classes! I also find that the environment (classmates/mentors/staff) is encouraging, motivating and everyone helps each other out :)
Absolutely enjoyed my time at NEXT Academy.
It was hard, yet rewarding at the same time when I had my first app built on the 4th week of the bootcamp.
Went to a hackathon in Week 6 of the bootcamp as the only web developer in the team and managed to deliver an app within 10 hours! Went for another hackathon one week after graduation and got into the top 5!
Made new friends, met great mentors who taught me how to solve a problem in a more systematic way, to think from different perspectives, guided me to find solutions instead of just spoon-feeding. What inspired me most is the calmness that they exude whenever a problem is faced. They will work so calmly to solve the problem together with us.
No regrets joining the bootcamp and picking up a new skill! One of the best de...Read more
I am a very grateful graduate of the program from the February 2015 batch.
I urge you, as future students to evaluate yourself, your want and your willingness to sacrifice before enrolling to the program. Why? because it truly is hard work, it is frustrating and it is painful but when you get it, it is fulfilling, and very very enabling. If you want to join a class and be coddled, this is NOT the place for you. Most of us, at least my batchmates, actually go home and it's 1 hour for most of us back and forth Cyberjaya daily, watch YouTube videos, read up, stay back till 10pm to do this. I'm probably one of the average students. I never completed everything, but I embraced every new day and new challenge without looking back. Because it's another very intense day. For someone who is f...Read more
I first joined the Ruby on Rails bootcamp and it really opened the world of programming (more so to web development). This gave me so much more confidence in building my own websites (and editing existing ones). Zero to hero with NEXT Academy! Also, I am currently undertaking their iOS bootcamp to learn about mobile development as well. Finding it awesome!
I graduated as part of March 2016 batch of NEXT Academy and I would recommend it to everybody who looks to jump-start their programming career. Nine weeks in NEXT were definitely a very intense experience as everyday you need to process a huge amount of information so it might prove very challenging if this is not your learning style.
Luckily, mentors were very helpful and supportive throughout the entire course answering questions and holding break-out sessions. Social aspect of Academy was great too as meeting new friends, becoming part of community and networking is important.
On top of it, NEXT just started holding industry/career events (last one was with AirAsia CTO) which I am really glad as it helps new grads to land jobs.
Generally, I believe they could do a better job...Read more
I have zero programming experience before I joined the bootcamp and I manage to secure a job as a RoR developer after that.
What is good about NEXT Academy
1. The mentor are very helpful and they are willing to stay beyond their working hours to help us to solve problem.
2. The friends we made in bootcamp are awesome. All of us come from different walks of life while sharing the same enthuasism of entrepreneurship. We learn from each other and at the same time, becoming the driving force of each other.
3. I can pay full attention to coding as well as learning step by step according to the syllabus.
What NEXT Academy can improve?
Code review : Review should be provided so that we can know how we can improve our code. (Otherwise we will just assume the code is fine as lon...Read more
They have one of best mentors that are willing to help and guide you but not spoonfeed you. I personally think that it is the best way to learn. It was intense nevertheless but I can assure you if you put a lot more effort in it, you will excel with guidance from the mentor in the bootcamp. Ask questions and PRACTICE frequently, the mentors there are more than willing to help and guide you along the 9 weeks.
Furthermore, you will get more than coding experience and skills, you get to meet a lot of different people from different background while some of them are really passionate about coding which helps a lot if you guys practice coding and learn as a team.
Conclusion, i bet you wont regret joining the bootcamp, its one of the best if not the best coding bootcamp available in Mal...Read more
