Read More anyone can learn the tools but to graduate with the skills on how to think like an engineer, how to phrase your questions, when to ask for help and understanding the technology under the hood. These are the skills that prepare You for work. Any other bootcamp can teach you the tools, but knowing how to use the tools does not make You an engineer and once the tool fazes out, You will have to switch to a new tool otherwise You would be left behind. Learning how to think like an engineer is the most important part as while this bootcamp is for full-stack web development, I landed a job to become an associate cloud engineer without any prior experience in the field. When I asked my current supervisor as to why he picked me to join the company, he told me that he saw that I was thinking like an engineer and that was what RA provided through their curriculum as well as their weekly Q&A. Every week they would invite different engineers (ranging from Facebook to Google to Government Related Tech Sectors to engineers working in start-up) to let You figure out which environment You would prefer to work for as You can freely ask any questions You like. As for job support, Kai and Akira would take You through the resume-writing and the creation of your portfolio. The resume writing process was extremely well handled and the instructors would scrutinise every little detail to ensure that your resume is flawless before You start applying for jobs. For myself and the most of my batch, we had multiple offers after the 1st week of graduation. Additionally, the instructors were there to tell us if we should wait for more job offers and if the company was good for us. Ultimately, the job that You decide to go for is your own choice. Lastly, the instructors were using their connections to help us get interviews. The cons of this bootcamp is that You will need discipline to do the work and to SHOW UP for the online classes. You will need to have proactivity on your own. While the support is there, You cannot expect to acquire the skills and knowledge without putting in the work. I recommend RA to anyone who wants to switch to a career in tech who has the discipline and the drive to put in the work. The basics and fundamentals are covered comprehensively. There is a focus on Data-structure and Algorithms which is extremely useful for all engineers as well. No regrets taking on this bootcamp on my part. Loved every single moment of it and it has provided me the skills and how to think like an engineer.

About me: I graduated with a Political Science degree and have not done any programming in my line of work (read: 0 background in software engineering). Within my first month of graduating from RA, I received 3 offers from quality companies, any of which I would gladly work with. I think these facts alone speak about the quality of RA's Bootcamp. In terms of the process, it's longer than other bootcamps in Sgp (6 mths vs 3 mths), but also more rigorous since you'll also cover topics like Data Structures & Algorithms (which will be tested in many job interviews). More importantly, the "extra" time is meaningfully invested into creating quality portfolio projects, which are useful both for learning and getting your first job. Instructors are super helpful and good at explaining concepts. More importantly, they're dedicated, even replying to questions outside working hours. You'll also have capable and driven classmates, thanks to RA's screening process to ensure that bootcampers have a solid grasp of fundamentals and are able to progress at a similar pace. We started off the day by learning about data structures and algorithms, followed by full stack fundamentals. We then had lunch and the rest of the day was spent on building projects. The instructors were always available to answer our questions through Slack. Beside teaching us all the necessary knowledge, Rocket Academy also put a lot of emphasis on getting us hired as software engineers. They constantly linked us with potential hirers, inviting the hirers to share their experiences. Getting our resume to be read by the hiring manager can be difficult as we do not have a computer science degree. Rocket Academy has ties with the industry and helped us forward our resume to the hiring teams. At the end of the course, I had a successful career transition and Rocket Academy was the one who linked me up with my current company. In fact, all my batchmates had successful career transitions to be software engineers. I highly recommended the course.

The curriculum is comprehensive and rigorous, and instills in you good industry practices and modern knowledge of fullstack web development. Students also get a lot of flexibility in building projects that interests them and the instructors will go out of their way to help you make them happen. In addition, the slightly longer duration of the course, vis-a-vis other bootcamps, is definitely worth it. The instructors will impart you with insider tips and strategies on tackling common data structures & algorithm (DS&A) questions, and pertinent advice on key areas to focus on. At the end of the course, you will find yourself well prepared to tackle these topics during technical interviews. Finally, RA's network with industry partners gives students a really powerful referral network to tap into, accelerating your job search process. This was a huge game changer for me. I initially underestimated what they meant by this, but was pleasantly surprised when it was my turn to interview. In all, the instructors are genuinely interested in helping their students succeed. Surprisingly this basic course is quite challenging so expect to spend a lot more time and give yourself plenty of time to work through the exercises and projects. My only wish was if they could cover some more on the fundamentals of how JS works and how the code runs in the structure of our exercise. Overall, it was an eye-opening experience to what it would be like to start learning code seriously. Also, a good examination of yourself to see if software development is the ideal career for you.
