My name is Johan and I just recently graduated from the Savvy Coders Full-stack web developers bootcamp.

I lost my job last year, but when... Read More I started looking around for a new position, I realized that my skill set does not match what the market is looking for. I learned a lot through self-studying, but needed more structure and guidance to get where I wanted to be. Savvy Coders offers this and more!

The Savvy curriculum is up to date and ever evolving to teach the latest technologies. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful in teaching coding and career skills. The emphasis is on helping students become well rounded developers that know how to problem solve and find the answers to difficult issues. While the course material is extensive students are constantly reminded that there is always way more to learn, that they should keep digging deeper, and never stop learning new technologies and tools.

Bootcamp is not a walk in the park. Student should come well prepared and ready to work very hard. Daily commitment and perseverance are essential for succeed. At a minimum student need to know how to use a computer, have a solid understanding of computing in general, and have a good command of their OS. Preparing in advance on subjects like HTML, CSS and basic JavaScript is strongly advised.

The commitment of the Savvy Coder staff does not end in the class room. They are dedicated to coach and prepare students to enter the job market. Through sessions on resume writing, project planning and presentation, students are prepped to present their capstone projects to potential employers on Demo Day. And while every cohort is closed out with a career planning session on job hunting, the advice and council of the Savvy staff will always be available to alumni. I absolutely love that! Once you join Savvy Coders, you are part of the community for life if you choose!

When I started attending Savvy Coders I had absolutely no knowledge of web development whatsoever. Now that I have graduated from the course I have all the knowledge needed to not only build a single page web application, but also to continue my career... Read More as a junior web developer. The curriculum was well built and easy to follow. I know have working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript. The instructor was very knowledgeable and adapted well to the students learning styles. I never had a question go unanswered. The hours of the class were great for me to able to continue having the necessary time during the day to keep up to task on my other responsibilities. This course has truly changed the way I look at IT and the way if affects the world and I would recommend this course to anyone.

Before attending SavvyCoders bootcamp I had very minimal knowledge about web development.
By the time I graduated in just 10 short weeks I had a firm grasp on building single-page applications using HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript as well as enough understanding... Read More about Node.js, Express, MongoDB, and RESTful APIs to be able to easily pick up any other coding language, library, or framework without much confusion. And, on top of all of that, I am now Agile-Certified!! I graduated SavvyCoders bootcamp with an indispensable toolkit of knowledge that would have taken me years to obtain elsewhere. SavvyCoders paved the path in front of me and I am forever grateful for their contribution to my future.

The motto – you get what you pay for – fully applies here. Material offered in this 10/12-week course was extremely basic and very far from sufficient to actually get a job in anything even close to web development. Most of the material that was covered... Read More can easily be found through free (or almost free) online resources. The recruiting services that were heavily promoted to students as a benefit never actually materialized. Recruiters had a tendency to blame students for any problems they may encounter in finding a job afterwards, and at times were angry and belligerent in this blaming. The reality, of course, is quite different – most employers are looking for senior level knowledgeable workers, junior positions are few and far between, and this course does not even get you to an Intern level without prior knowledge. Overall I would not recommend this course for beginners because you can get the same information for far less, and would not recommend it to more intermediate students because it's too basic. On a final note, keep in mind that most of the 5-star stellar reviews for this bootcamp were given by students just starting the recruiting process, students who were very eager to please so they would not be sidelined in the recruiting process.

Savvy Coders was a great introduction into the tech world. I had zero experience going into this program and feel confident that I can put together a single page application using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I believe that the network that Savvy Coders... Read More provided will help me through my journey into the tech world, and considering the competition out there, this is probably the most cost-effective boot camp out there.
Attendance is mandatory. If you are new to software development, you must keep up and ask as precise of questions as possible OUTSIDE of class. Instructors use a LOT of industry slang. Learn from this.
If you are considering this boot camp, please note that doing the pre-coursework is highly recommended.
After going through this boot camp, I feel empowered and grateful for the knowledge and the network of the budding tech professionals from my cohort.

Savvy Coders is a ten week boot camp with an emphasis on HTML, CSS, and especially JavaScript. Before this class I possessed almost no skills related to coding and programming, Savvy Coders not only introduced me to these new skills but they assisted... I originally started my journey at a local university here in Saint Louis but I didn’t want to be forced into taking non related courses to meet state requirement such as history and art courses when all I really wanted was to learn programming and development, Savvy Coders gave me that ability. Very satisfied with the end result and now I have enough knowledge to continue learning on my own!

I thought I would just learn HTML, CSS, and Javascript in the course due to the time restraints of the course (10 weeks). Thanks to the teachers and curriculum, we went so much further than that. Even after the course, they are dedicated to assisting you in finding a new role; including helping you with resumes, interview preparation, as well as scheduling demo days to show off your newly-learned skills for potential future employers.

This was an overall great experience and I look forward to expanding the knowledge I have obtained from the course and using it to take my career to a level I wouldn't have been able to achieve without my experience with Savvy Coders.
