I studied business informatics and had to pause it for some years. To get back on track, I decided to attend this course. Compared to what I've learned in university I truly can say "Tortuga Coders" is an A-class programming Bootcamp. It's a perfect class... Read More for beginners but also fits well for people with basic experiences. Based on the state-of-the-art language JavaScript, I learned how to code the front and backend of a web app including a database. Each day started with a lecture followed by exercises to deepen what we've learned. Besides that, we developed different projects and got a sense of achievement. Our teacher was amazing and caught everyone at their level. It's fascinating how the environment allowed me to work hard and gives me the feeling of having a vacation at the same time. I met a lot of interesting people working as digital nomads which opened a new world with this kind of lifestyle for me. The island also is special in terms of nature, food and free-time activities. I'll for sure be back next Winter.

The Full-Stack Development Javascript Course was a beautiful mix of Paradise, with a structured environment for pursuing goals. I took the course as a way to enhance my current offering of skills to my clients. We were exposed to multiple different sectors... Read More of the coding world and placed in a position where depending on our interests, we can dive deeper into any platform. Myself, I was specifically interested in APIs and Javascript Development, and not so much the front-end development. I expressed this specific interest to Tony, and he was very accommodating, while still encouraging me to become familiar with Front End Coding. For my final project, I reviewed and update several scripts that my clients have been working on and set up my own API (I work in the FinTech Space for Accounting Technology). I was very happy with Tony being willing to allow me to focus on the specific goal I had in mind and deviate from the traditional project. Tony also had breakout sessions on Friday, and tests, to simulate real-world interviews for coding positions. While it was difficult for some students to break out of their shells and work through these activities, it positions them in a good space to be ready for the workforce. Tony also was good at coaching and talking about the workforce, and how to get your foot in the door for job placement. The whole course is modeled for exposure and to show your future employers that you have the aptitude and are trainable for any Junior type position. Within 1 month of completing the course, I received an offer with a 35k USD Salary increase with a nice Sign-on Bonus. A large part of my ability to negotiate this higher salary was due to my ability to talk about technical concepts during the interview, and while I was honest with the interview that I hadn't worked on these items, I was able to show them I had the aptitude and interest. I recommended the course, and have already started convincing my friends who are a bit shy to take the jump!

Throughout the weeks that I spent there I became familiar with everything that is web programming and its environment, I learned many things and practiced them, for me they were the first steps of this path, the teacher knows what he is talking about... Read More and It shows the most important points so that you can continue programming, what I liked the most was that at the end of each week with the progress you can see what you built. Of course that's not all, because the place is very nice for you to have extra fun, the locals are very friendly, I was able to get to know many cultures there with all the classmates, it was an unforgettable experience.

Am I glad I did! I spent 2 months in Bali attending the Tortuga program which was developed by the owner and instructor Tony Russo. Tony is highly experienced developer and an even better instructor. His ability to impart information in a clear and logical way is second to none. He has developed a very comprehensive, well presented and professional program that is thorough and complete. Whether you have no previous experience or you are a senior developer, you will find the program is intense enough to be challenging and yet presented in a very simple and easy to follow way! Tortuga Coders is more than just a bootcamp. It is a family, my newest family. Angela, the Marketing and Administrative director is one of the kindest and funniest people I’ve met. Not only does she help with Visa prep and other tasks, she is always prepared to share all the great places for food. Thank you Angela and Tony and everyone that made this one of the most pleasant learning experiences of my life.
