"NOT WORTH THE 11K TUITION"
Overall:
Start with FreeCodeCamp.org. Get a feel of it, and if you really think this career is for you, go find a bootcamp other than this one and enroll to that.
DO NOT ENROLL TO THIS ONE.
Do yourself a favor and go find a different bootcamp.

Cons:
- IMPORTANT: It's not really UCI, the company itself is called Trilogy and they just pay UCI to use one of their buildings. That's basically it. This bootcamp does not any association with UCI whatsoever.
- The instructor for this class did not have a degree, was self-taught, and was very unprofessional. Was unable to follow the lesson plan and would deviate from it almost all the time. You would think that they would at least hire someone with a CS degree or at least years of experience as a developer and teaching it.
- The TAs were incompetent. One graduated from the previous cohort with no experience whatsoever, and the other one was just plain lazy.
- The career services sends you generic templates which does not help you with your job search. You can literally google all the "resources" that they send. In addition, they constantly bombard you with these "helpful resources" when all you need is a simple answer from the career services person, which she is unable to do because she is handling ALL the students from UCI and UCLA bootcamps. To think that each class (at least the part-time classes) consists of 25 students that pays at least 11k. You do the math. (25 * $11,000 = $275,000) and that's just for one class. They should have at least have one career service person PER class. But not they do not!! They have 1 person handling over 200 students.
- Lesson plan / entire curriculum kept changing.
- No communication between the instructor and the TAs

"ANYONE can be a successful developer."
If you're reading this, then you can be a successful developer. Many of the students who start this program have never seen code before and aren't always the most computer savvy.
A little background about myself, I got a bachelors degree in Communications... Read More
Found the UC Irvine bootcamp part time program and it was incredible. Project-based program, so it really prepares you for the real world. I have friends with Computer Science degrees and they didn't learn as much material as we did in the UCI program compared to a traditional college. This program is up to date with all of the latest technology, the course curriculum is put together extremely well. You form a really good bonding with the students and there is a lot of administrative support. Not only does the program teach you skills of being a developer, but it also helps support you being a professional. You also receive career advice and support, which has proven to be beneficial.
The biggest con is how fast the program goes, but honestly, that's real life. Typically you will start a job and you only have a few short weeks to get up and running with their tech stack.
CommentWe love reading reviews like yours, Garrett! We know that our instructors, TAs, and career services are devoted to equipping our students with the best resources and knowledge base - feedback like yours makes these efforts worthwhile.

Like you mentioned, this course is definitely challenging and fast-paced. It does require students to commit time outside the classroom to study the concepts, complete supplemental assignments, and polish their skills. We also believe these practices are important for students to cultivate for future tech roles.
It’s wonderful you learned so much and had such an incredibly positive experience. Congratulations on all your hard work! Thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed review and good luck as you move forward! -UC Irvine Boot Camps

"The cohort covers a lot of ground."
I attended the part time coding bootcamp from March-September this year. I found the Instuctors to be outstanding. Ben and Michael really knew their stuff. The TAs Kyle and Tim were great too. They were helpful throughout the course. The cohort covers... Read More
Jenna was very helpful in the career services department. Although, it seemed like she was in the position of a very cometent person being streached very very thin. I've heard that the school is bringing on additional resources and personel to support her in the future.
CommentCongratulations on completing the boot camp! We’re glad to hear that your instructors, TAs and Career Director were so helpful, and provided you with the guidance you needed. As you mention, students should expect to dedicate an appropriate amount of... Read More

Hi Anonymous,

Our program has an intensive vetting process for instructors and requires a minimum of three years' experience as an active practitioner in the tech industry. We hire professionals in lieu of traditional professors to best simulate real-life working environments. Instructors may come from a variety of backgrounds within the web development field and will often have different teaching styles. As such, we measure our instructor success based on student feedback, video audits of their teaching, and classroom assessments.
Throughout the overall course experience, we strive to expose students to the latest technologies used in today's workforce. As technology is ever-changing, we constantly update our curriculum to remain competitive. This sometimes requires us to update or deviate from our materials during the course of the program. We value our instructor's skills and efforts toward keeping our curriculum in-line with the latest market demands. Still, we understand that not all teaching styles will resonate with all students. The in-classroom experience is designed to be immersive and equip students with the necessary coding foundation to prepare them to continue learning new languages on their own, even after the program ends, so we truly value your feedback. (removed: We are glad you liked the structure of the boot camp.)
While we do not secure direct employment for our students, we empower them with the resources and support they need to prepare them for the workforce and the job search. We provide the necessary skills to not only land their first tech career but every role thereafter. Our team strives to be clear about the scope of our career services from the beginning so that our students understand how they can maximize this aspect of the program. Our career services curriculum includes 1:1 coaching with a Career Director, technical interview preparation, portfolio assistance, resume support, tech panels, and final project events where students are able to receive insight from industry professionals. Were these aspects of the curriculum helpful?
Once again, we appreciate you taking the time to share your student experience. We understand this course can be challenging, so we commend you for all of your dedication! Our goal is for every student to leave the program feeling equipped for success, so we would like the opportunity to personally speak with you in order to determine what additional job support we can provide you with at this time. Please reach out to me at (949) 214-4016 so that we can further address your concerns. -UC Irvine Boot Camps
