| | Dave Long | The staff at Claim Academy are not joking when they say this is a fully immersive program. You will eat, sleep, and breath coding during the entire program. However, during this time, you will learn far more than most people would be able to learn otherwise. The days are long and you will likely eventually feel overwhelmed and frustrated. This happened at different points in the course for different members of my class. As difficult as you may find it, keep going. Show up every day, be on time, and don't leave early. Time missed will really hurt your progress and it will be very difficult to catch back up. If you don't understand something, ask the instructors/mentors for help. Stay late and get help when you need it. Spend time working on projects at home. You will be expected to spend a lot of time working in pairs with other students, as well as working independently on your own projects. Again, ask for help or clarification if you don't understand something. Having another student explain something to you helps both of you understand it better. If you see another student struggling with something, offer your help. You will be expected to learn some fundamental knowledge needed to complete your projects on your own and to troubleshoot problems. Google will become your new best friend. If that fails, ask the instructors/mentors for help. Overall, I feel like Claim Academy delivers a solid course with a LOT of information and practical coding experience crammed into a 12-week course. They have employers and past graduates come in for open houses and employer showcases. Take advantage of these opportunities and network. Go in with a positive attitude and confidence that you can do this and your investment will pay off in the end. |

The course itself was tough in the beginning for sure, but with patients, hard work and with the help from great instructors like Praneeth Medari and Eric Ray, they made it easier for me to understand. They also helped with the preparation for interviews and resume writing, which boosted my confidence when i went to job interviews. Matthew Hook(Director of Operations) provided great assistance with my GI bill and BAH and made sure i was taken care as a veteran which i really appreciated. Over all loved the experience. |
