If you're considering a career change into the tech industry, I can't recommend this course enough! I first started to consider a career change in 2019 and that's when I came across the Full Stack Web Development Diploma with Code Institute. Fast forward to May 2020 when I finally took the plunge and decided to enroll in the course. Best decision I've ever made! I recently completed the course and on the same day as submitting my final project, I received my first offer for a web developer role - the timing couldn't have been better! The course material is really well structured and easy to follow. I'd be lying if I said there weren't times when I was frustrated and struggled to understand some of the concepts covered in the course but that's what the Slack community is there for. It's an incredible community of students, alumni, mentors, and tutors all there to assist with any problems you might face during the course. You are also encouraged to find solutions yourself and Google will very quickly become your best friend. The satisfaction of getting a piece of code to work is honestly one of the best feelings ever! Throughout the course you're required to build four milestone projects which, on completion of the course leaves you with a portfolio of four unique projects to show off your new skillset to prospective employers. You are assigned a mentor who will be there for guidence during the development of each of your milestone projects - their knowledge and advise is incredible! As well as your mentor, you also gain access to a support team of tutors as well as the student care team who are there to assist with any other (non-coding) problems you might face. The student care team also regularly keep in contact with you too see how you are finding the course. You also gain access to access a careers services team who provide regular webinars on a variety of things from writing a CV, using LinkedIn and talks with industry professionals. I highly recommend using all the resources they have available and take all the advice that they have to give because I don't think I would have got a job offer as quick without their help. You can very easily book in a consultation with one of the team to go over your CV, Cover Letter and LinkedIn profile - something I definitely took advantage of as I have never had to write a CV or Cover Letter and had also never used LinkedIn. Again, I can't recommend this course enough and I'm super excited for the next chapter as I start my first ever developer job in September!! |
