Software Engineering Bootcamp March Cohort Pros: 1.Course content This course is excellent in helping cultivate a philosophical mindset.6 months ago I didn't know how to research on Software Engineering or which learning path to take. Now that I have completed the bootcamp,I have alot more confidence and no longer view Software Engineering as a extreme mental sport for really smart dudes.I have gained computational thinking tools ,I am able to rely on them in my day to day life, and that is priceless. 2.Course Support Theres a international social network of developers from all experience levels. This makes it very easy to make up for knowledge gaps you are unable to fill on your own or with the help of your mentor. And you can collaborate very quickly with other mentors, learners and graduates at all times of day,(even at 3AM if you're that zealous) CONS: 3.Code Review Process can be tedious It can get exhausting when multiple mentors review your code and ask you to improve different parts of your program without referring to to the feedback you received from the previous code reviewer. If this happens to you, take a chill pill and reread the task requirements, and then substantiate why you think they are not grading your code fairly using clear evidence that you met the requirements :-) 4.Guidence after your bootcamp ends Theres no assistance with CV writing after the bootcamp ends .Before your bootcamp ends your CV will be reviewed by your mentor. If you need guidance after the bootcamp ends you will not recieve it(e.g perhaps you need help with putting the relevant buzzwords as you apply for different positions or with interview skills) So make sure you think long term in this regard,be prepared to market and prove that you have newly found skills. Overall awesome course for those who are mentally resilient,I'd like to end the review with quote from Barry Finlay "Every mountain top is within your reach if you just keep climbing."- Barry Finlay |
