| | Anonymous | I have nothing but respect for Noble Desktop. This is the BEST "bootcamp" to learn front end web development. I went to a big-name school with fantastic marketing first and did a part-time front end web development program and left feeling lost and that I wasted a ton of money- The instructor at the other school was very focused on looking smart for his ripe age of 26 and not actually teaching. The big name school essentially taught an overview of what could be done if you want to flail around at home running into a thousand problems to learn and have no-one to ask questions. Two years later I got an invite for a demo class at Noble and decided to give it a shot. I saw that they give you step by step notes to follow along with - so you can actually repeat it at home as many times as you need to get comfortable. With Noble you spend your time seeing how everything is done and learning. Each lesson is well thought out to show all types of CSS structures and the javascript actually shows you how it applies to the front end. They also teach you how to optimize your pictures in Photoshop. Noble has been in business for 20 years for a reason - because they are honest and really deliver value. They let you repeat classes if you need to if space is available and the instructors are outstanding. They are experienced professionals with a true interest in teaching you, not showing off. You can't go wrong with any of their instructors (Dan, Lasha, David.. and all the rest - thank you, you rock!). While the class didn't require a project I got so motivated to apply all my new skills that I built an entire front end website for an organization that I volunteer with and I posted it to GitHub. Instructors helped me with quirks and I was able to refer to lessons that they taught to apply them my own way. Also the other school assumed that I would work for a corporation with an army of people to help such as graphic artists etc - at Noble they teach all the skills/classes necessary so that you can actually do all an entire website for a small business and not hire armies of people. After completing the front end web dev certificate I also did the full stack web development course so that I could build a Wordpress backend for my own front end website - so my website will actually be put to use because it will be easy to update it. If you want to make pretty websites and you don't want to feel lost and dumb then take a Noble Desktop class and learn the constructive way and not by reinventing the wheel. After you've done the Web dev class you might get hooked and want to take more classes. They structure their classes so that you can take them piece by piece so you can take breaks for life and not jam through everything like other schools that shove firehose down your mouth and treat you like you are a pledge. Noble treats you like family. I am now applying my new-found skills in a new job now, I am not a web developer but my web dev skills got me the job because the organization was rolling out a new template that I was responsible for customizing - and my site was given as an example to others in the beta rollout - my understanding of how a website was built really came in handy in interacting with the developer. | | Linda Purpura Fischer | I am a book publisher and was very happy with the Certificate in Web Design at Noble Desktop. Web Development 1 and 2 helped me manage my website. Photoshop for Web & UI expanded my capabilities. I not only understood the files coming in but could work on the files too, if needed. This gave me greater control of our projects. Mobile & responsive design emphasized mobile first. As a result, I held off redoing our main site while I thought through how to apply everything I learned. I would highly recommend Noble Desktop. Great school!! |
