D.L. Since I moved on from my marketing and sales job in November 2019, I was job hunting for a Product Manager job (after hearing about it and researching about what it was) for 2 months without any luck. I got some rounds 1s, but nothing past that, and some companies never even called back, or gave feedback. I wasn't sure what I was doing wrong. I decided for my 2020 New Year's resolution that I was going to land my job in Product Management. I researched for degrees and programs that help with Product Management, but there's no 'Product Manager' degree from colleges. I went to check out a few bootcamps, and I did some consultations with a select few of them, with Product Gym being one. The thing that stuck out to me when I talked to Product Gym over the other bootcamps was that they offered 'lifetime support' and would help me secure my Product Manager job. I was skeptical of course, thinking 'If I can't even get past a few round 1s, or get multiple interviews, what good is enrolling in Product Gym going to do for me? How are they going to change everything?' I was told to check out their testimonials page, and they had all these great people from big companies that I thought I would never land, but it was still inspirational to check out. I decided I would just enroll with Product Gym, because the 'lifetime support and access' told me that it would be the best in terms of cost over time. I talked to Rich in January, and I enrolled the same month for their cohort. It was grueling how difficult their program is, but I kept thinking 'IF I WANT TO GET A PRODUCT MANAGER JOB, I HAVE TO STICK WITH IT. THIS IS THE WORST PART - THE JOB HUNT.' After about 3 weeks, I landed multiple interviews, and I even got past my round 1 hurdle, and hit round 2s. Then a week after, I landed my first round 3 interview, and 2 weeks after that, I got my first round 4. About 6 weeks into the program, I got my first job offer, but it wasn't in the field I wanted, so I kept going at it. I already had an offer, so I felt safe, and had a job secured, but I wanted one in the field I was passionate about. About 3 weeks after that, I got an offer for a medium sized company in the NYC area, where their new product was one that I definitely wanted to be involved in making. All in all, I could not have gotten the job I wanted without the help of Rich and his team at Product Gym. Trust me - they know what they're doing, and even if the program is taxing at first, just stick through it like I did, and the end result will be the best part. Thanks again to Rich and the team at Product Gym for landing me my first Product Manager job!
