I recently graduated (April 2021 alumni) with the Austin cohort. First, let me say that I originally came in with lower expectations because I feel that having an online experience would be worse than in-person. Both Kimberly and Tom, the two Program Leads of the Austin campus, proved me wrong by tailoring the curriculum and miscellaneous documentations to maximize the online class experience. What I really loved during the program is that the instructors are very transparent and open to feedback from the students by hosting weekly retrospectives to make the experience better for current and future cohorts. Solid thumbs up for keeping the interests of students first. In terms of the actual technical materials, it's definitely created with the purpose to continuously push you to the edge. The Pre-course material already gives you a slight idea of what to expect during the immersive program. You WILL struggle, and you WILL constantly feel like giving up. But that's okay, because that's how you learn. They give you the things you need to know to get the job done, but it's up to you to be more autonomous throughout the program and learn things yourself. That being said, there are resources, such as provided documentation and Help Desk from fellow HR residents, that can push you to the right direction whenever you feel stuck. Lastly, HR has a Job Search program that assists you to find a career after you graduate. The Career Service Managers put in the effort to teach students how to increase the chances to make job applications to land you that first interview. So far, I'm having a great experience with the JSP, and can't wait to utilize it while I do my job hunt.
