Amit Raut While doing my research on Data Science boot camp in google; this name popped up on Facebook. So I called the number and the guy who picked up the phone was hesitant to talk about the tuition. He put emphasize on how good the course is; strong admission test blah blah and bought me in. The test was just for the namesake when you can take part anyway you could. Therefore, I took the exam and somehow got selectedL. The down payment was $2500 and rest $7500 is supposed to pay in 6 months. One cold evening, I was there in Somerset. It was amazing that how they are milking the people. I saw retail people with no math backround ; restaurant worker ; IRS agent and all sort of non-technical people joined the course to become a data scientist !! I am very sure most of them will be in debt for a long time paying the $10k tuition fees. The instructor was a cool 25 yrs. old dude with NO prior experience in boot camp. They have 7 days return policy; so they start the course very casually with Microsoft excel so all of the students have false security about the course.. The thing gets ugly after 7 days with VBA which itself is not easy for a newbie. After that it just never stops. They complete Python programming in 1 week; different python engine in 1 week ; sql in a week; sqlalchemi /API/html / Javascript in 2 weeks . tableue in 1 week and ML in 1 week !! In between they have homeworks (people just upload others work), project work(1 or 2 experienced people work and other just watch) and list goes on and on. You can also ask a tutor to help you out if you are lukc. Instructor himself knows that most of us was not getting him but he has to run to complete . The assistants were clueless. One assistant was from merrill lynch with no industry experience . They have some job search program. I joined that one day and they put two students in a virtual room to discuss about job opportunity. Not sure what was going on. I still feel pissed off about the whole experience. Unless if you have good working knowledge in programming (Python, Javascript) ,I would recommend you to stay away from this.
