Code Institute is not just another online course. CI is more than that, it’s the community of students you get to know, the tutoring and mentor service and the brilliant careers that turn it into an online college. For a disabled person this has been an excellent opportunity.

I've got into the Full-Stack Web Development course through the Springboard+ Program in the Republic of Ireland. What this means is they are fully funding my education with Code Institute. I've started September 2020, falling short on work hours in the meantime so I've quite some to dedicate to successfully get my Diploma. For some people an opportunity like this could be life-changing, so I think it is for me. They have clear communication channels through Slack and email, and the course material is also easy to understand, saying this as a non-native English speaker. The videos are also subtitled so there's that to save the day if you're just can't make hearing English work. The student support and the career support options are great. Having a dedicated mentor supporting you and having someone to check on you on the phone from time to time is a great and reassuring feeling! Having created a LinkedIn Profile I've over 100+ connections from just the people who either are or have been associated with Code Institute or this course. The Project criteria for each module are nicely laid out, easy to find out what bits and bobs you need to take into consideration upon creating your code and visuals. The GitPod IDE is also a nice touch that it comes pre-configured for everyone, so all of us can be at the same level, no need for installing and configuring plugins, although there probably should be at least an optional part so people could set things up in their own developer environment. Some topics are only covered for a short period. I'm not sure if you can make do with the information they provide, but for like everything in life if you want to do it better, you can, and probably you will need to venture out in the web and gather additional knowledge or do other tutorials or courses on the side. That's part of developing your knowledge. The course material is supposed to prepare you for a Junior role, which implies once you finished and maybe you're landing a job straight away you still very much need to educate yourself! If Code Institute would have more to its course material it wouldn't be called a 'Bootcamp'. Now again, all of this is coming from someone who had no expectations whatsoever, but I am happy to say, I am glad about the way how things are turning out. Just about to submit my MS3 project and received one Merit and on Distinction for my previous two projects without feeling overly confident in what am I doing. Everyone who ever comes in touch with Code Institute or this course is a great bunch of people! I can tell this about all the messaging that's going on on Slack or LinkedIn. So sure, this course might not be good enough for you, or turn out sour, or maybe it's the opportunity that you've been waiting for. It is up to the individual and their conditions and way of life. I've already fallen out of a BioPharma course because at that point and time in life I could not afford to be continuing it. This time everything is turning out rather nice! I think overall it would be a good investment to get into this course, but you have to be prepared to not only take what it gives you, but to look for more! It takes a certain mindset to be able to make progress and to be successful in this. I hope I will be able to tell that I am amongst those. :)
