Ace the Fullstack Academy admissions process with this guide from SwitchUp

Fullstack Academy, a leading coding bootcamp, has a rigorous admissions process to ensure all incoming students are ready to succeed in a fast-paced, immersive educational environment. Applicants wishing to apply for Fullstack's immersive cohorts must submit an application form to be considered, and applicants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, so it's important to apply early for any cohort you've got your eye on.

Although they practice selective admissions, Fullstack Academy wants to give all applicants the best possible chance to make it into the career-defining Software Engineering Immersive, which primarily means making sure applicants are prepared for their timed coding assessment delivered through the in-browser testing tool, Hackerrank.

In order to perform maximally on Fullstack's (and other top schools') coding assessments, it's important to be familiar with:

  • Programming fundamentals like loops, arrays, and if-else statements
  • Approaching coding challenges
  • The coding environment

To improve candidates' familiarity with all three aspects, Fullstack Academy offers free Admissions Prep Workshops around each admissions deadline. These workshops are run by Fullstack Academy Immersive instructors and feature extra one-on-one help from TAs, former Fullstack Academy students who've stayed on as fellows to mentor others. Over the course of several hours, attendees will learn to approach — and solve — coding challenges using programming fundamentals. Furthermore, at least one Admissions Prep Workshop a month is operated 100% remotely using collaboration tools and live-streamed video, so you can attend from the comfort of your own home.

Bootcamp Prep, as mentioned above, is a great way to get up to speed if you want to become a developer but aren't quite ready to pass bootcamp admissions. The course can be taken as live instruction--either in-person or via their virtual classroom platform--over the course of a month or a week, depending on your schedule and learning style, or it can be taken online as a series of recorded lectures, coding challenges, and solution videos. The latter, Bootcamp Prep Online, includes more than 40 hours of video with Fullstack Academy's founders, David and Nimit, who together have more than 30 years of coding knowledge and experience to share.

These resources are ideal for anyone considering attending a coding bootcamp to advance their career.
