After opening two new campuses in Seattle and Denver this year, The Tech Academy, which is headquartered in Portland, is continuing their growth into the Southwest. The Tech Academy Austin is opening in January 2019! Students are enrolling now to begin their training online in the meantime.

Known for its BBQ, Tex-Mex, and music scene, Austin is also gaining a reputation for its booming tech scene and startup industry. As one of the country's fastest growing cities, Austin offers an abundance of opportunities for technology professionals. For those looking to break into the tech industry in the Austin area, The Tech Academy's bootcamps are a great way to jumpstart your career.

The Austin Tech Scene

As the city is a rising star in the tech industry, Austin was a clear choice for The Tech Academy's newest location.

Approximately 6,500 of the city's employers are in the tech industry. Over the last 5 years, Austin's tech employment grew by 23.7% (vs. 21.1% in other industries) with the average annual salary for a technology worker being $112,771. Some of the city's top employers include Dell, IBM, and Indeed with tech giants like Google, Apple, and Amazon recently opening offices in the area. Jason Bethke, president of FATHOM LAB told CNBC, "One of the things that really drew us to that particular community was the longevity that software developers and tech folks have. They tend to stay at companies way longer in Austin than in Silicon Valley."

According to a recent report the city is producing more tech jobs than tech grads, adding over 1,000 more tech jobs than tech graduates during the past five years. The Tech Academy is eager to help fill that gap.

Austin also boasts the reputation of being a "startup mecca". This is due to the city's overall business environment, including low taxes, relatively low cost of living, and access to resources. There are many notable Austin-based startups for students and developers who are looking to join a company at the ground-level and be part of a community of innovators.

The Tech Academy Austin

Students at the Austin campus can expect the same experience and service quality as those at any other Tech Academy campus!

The Tech Academy offers four bootcamp tracks, which include: the C# and .NET Framework Bootcamp, the Python Bootcamp, the Front-End Web Development Bootcamp, and their premier program: the Software Developer Bootcamp (which covers both C# and Python). They also offer open enrollment — meaning students can start at any time. They offer a self-paced program allowing students to advance at their own speed, and flexible study scheduling options.

The curriculum starts with the basics and advances from there, so no technical background or experience is required. Each bootcamp covers multiple programming languages, so graduates are well-rounded web and software developers.

Lyci George, an experienced Portland Instructor who has a PhD, will act as Austin's Dean to ensure students are instructed well. While studying during off-hours or weekends, Austin students will have access to The Tech Academy's remote instructors. Like all students they will finish the program with the school's outstanding job placement training.

Enroll Today!
