I chose this program for two reasons: they had a part time program, and they had career support after completing the program. The bootcamp curriculum was reasonably solid, and greatly accelerated my learning compared to self-taught. The coaches were accessible... Read More during class hours, and the transition to online-only was quite smooth considering the short timescale they had to work with. Overall, it was an excellent pedagogical experience. The career support was also excellent - establishing a minimum number of applications per week, plus coaching on interviewing and simply providing motivation, was extremely helpful. The cost of the program was well worth it just for the career support at the end.
They weren't lying when they said it would be intense! The subject matter is complicated, the lectures were sometimes really long and difficult to follow, and the work could easily pile up if you didn't stay on top of it. However, the instructors were... Read More knowledgable and patient and never failed to guide me through any of my problems. Some people don't like doing schoolwork online, but it was ideal for me being deaf to communicate solely through writing. They also provided me with a subscription for a voice recording app which helped during the lectures. I felt that some of the workshops could be improved, the instructions were a bit vague and difficult to understand at times and typos which held things up - but I believe it was good practice for actual coding. I really enjoyed working on my final project and the freedom to do whatever I wanted with it. After graduation, they provided excellent career services and I was able to land a job within 2 months. Overall, an awesome experience and I'm very grateful to the whole team!
The Concordia web development diploma was a great experience and was worth all the effort I put into it. The teacher and the help teams supported us very well and I was able to develop a great confidence in the coding of web applications. I already had... Read More previous programming experience but in the end it gave me the autonomy I needed to be able to stand on my own, start new projects and continue my story of endless learning in the world of web programming. The best thing is that I was able to find a job quickly after I finished my program and could apply my new knowledge right away.
I took a lot of time to research different programs and their curriculums in both Montreal and Toronto before selecting Concordia’s Full-Stack Bootcamp. Concordia stuck out not only because of it’s thorough, 12 week curriculum that includes extensive... Read More work in server side environments and working with databases but because of their structured, intensive career services program for graduates. This program is going to challenge you. It’s supposed to challenge you. There are going to be tough days. That’s not a warning, it’s actually an encouragement. There are a lot of jobs in web-development right now, which is great, but there are a lot of requirements as well. If you want to meet those requirements, Concordia’s program is a great place to do so under the guidance of developers who will set you up with the needed skillset to transition into the industry. You will get as much out of the program as you put into it. It won't be "easy", but it's worth it! PROS - Excellent career services support 10/10 - Thorough curriculum with all lectures recorded to access after/later - Solid collection of workshops that I find myself now looking back on as a resource CONS - Some of the lessons could have been more descriptive, I always learned the most from the classes that had a great demo/code along as a part of the lecture. It made the lectures way longer but also lead to me retaining the information and methods better. I wish they had done more
Great experience, tutors/coaches knew their stuff. Job support and the alumni group are a great add-on to the bootcamp. The instructors would give you the knowledge and skills to debug and build an application. How the bootcamp is taught prepares you... Read More to a work environment, versus a college degree that is very theoratical.
I was part of the Concordia Bootcamps (Full Stack Web Dev) and graduated in April 2021. I started with little to no experience in web development, and though the course is expensive, this was hands-down one of the (if not THE) best investment I've made.... Read More The curriculum, teaching format and practical work I did was all extremely useful and well-presented, and I deeply appreciate the enthusiasm and continuous assistance from our technical coaches during the 3-months course. In addition to the amazing education I received, the Concordia Career Services had a huge impact on what happened post-graduation. With a tailored program to help you maximize your chances of securing a job after you graduate (including one-on-one meetings with a career coach, a technical coach and career fair opportunities), I was able to get an offer within 2 weeks after the course ended. At the end of 2020, I was taking a leap of faith and doing a career change, and after doing this course, there is no doubt in my mind I would make the same choice all over again.
I'm so happy I decided to take this bootcamp! It was an intense 12 weeks and we learned so much. But I always felt supported by the TCs and fellow students. After the bootcamp they have dedicated career coaches (Joelle was amazing!) that give you a ton... Read More of support throughout the process of job searching. After graduation they held a virtual Job Fair with 20 different companies. I was offered a full time position within 3 weeks of graduation from one of the companies at the job fair! I honestly can't imagine a better bootcamp. I 100% recommend it to anyone looking to learn web development.
"Great experience and one of the best decision of my life!"
Modern tech stack, patient and skilled tech team, great career and tech support after graduation. There is a group project as well as a solo project so you will both learn to collaborate with others as well as be able to do a whole full stack project... Read More on your own. You will typically have 1 or 2 hours of lecture in the morning, then you will work on the workshop for the rest of the day so you will learn by doing which I think is the best way to learn and to learn fast. It is intensive and fast paced, so be prepared to work hard and put extra time and effort if you want to be successful. The teacher and tech coaches are always there to help if you're stuck and they were very kind, patient and helpful. After graduation you will be paired with a career coach for up to 6 months or until you find a job, whichever comes first. As I'm writing this, it's been only 5 months since graduation and most people in my group already found jobs. I got hired 4 months after graduation. For me, the job search part was the hardest but my career coach was always there to encourage me to hang in there and my time would come. You'll get tips on writing your resume, building your LinkedIn page and practice your interview skills. You'll also be paired with a tech coach for a couple of meetings, he/she will give you a roadmap, tips and resources to help and guide you to continue to learn. What you will learn at the bootcamp is just the beginning! You can also request help from a tech coach before a technical interview. There are also job fairs and speed interview events. If you don't get a job from these events (I didn't), at least you get to practice your interview skills. It was a very valuable experience from the classes to the career services. It was definitely worth it for me!
I enrolled to Journey's web dev bootcamp a little more than a year ago after deciding to make a career switch. What a ride, I hadn't been to school for a decade and I didn't know a iota about coding. I think the way the program is setup, from top top... Read More to bottom, makes it easier (relatively, this is hard and takes effort, it truly is a bootcamp) for total newbs. Whether it's your teacher or the technical coaches, the people managing this program made sure to hire the bomb. That's for the bootcamp part. When you're done, they made sure to not leave you on your own with your newly acquired knowledge. Which is awesome, because, well for my case anyways, I still lacked confidence. So for another 3 months ( I'm not sure about the span of time, all hell broke loose (covid) when we were at the bootcamp) I had access to a technical coach who would answer my questions as well as a career coach who I could speak about nothing and everything , both of them guiding me further up my journey. Landing a job is not guaranteed at the end of the bootcamp, and while they do organise job fairs (some of my colleagues find their first gig that way!), it's important to keep grinding. Coding every day, sending cvs, staying studious.
I chose this bootcamp to make a drastic career switch from working my usual bank job. Covid hit and the course had to be taught online. The bootcamp was by far one of the best experiences I've ever had. I was going into this bootcamp with an *inkling*... Read More of an idea of coding. There were clearly other students who had a background in coding/relative experience in the domain. The TC's were fantastic in helping the student with the assignments. My only gripe was that I had to spend longer nights trying to figure out what I was learning at my own pace. The "Teaching" aspect of the course could've been a little better, I felt too alienated to ask a simple question when half my class was on to bigger things. After the bootcamp, the career support was great. I had weekly meetings with my coach and we practiced interviewing, had an improved version of my CV, and a technical coach was available if you needed help with an assignment a company was handing off.
