Read More feedback on my understanding of topics and my instructors were an amazing source of technical and career knowledge that no MOOC could offer (as far as I've seen). The tech stack is very relevant to the job market as of this review, and I believe in the program's aim to keep the curriculum as current as possible. I was in the part-time cohort working full-time and time was not my friend. You have to put in the work in and out of the class to truly grasp the concepts and practice your newfound abilities as well as pursue your own interests in coding outside the scope of the course. Your peers are also a great source of learning and motivation. The careers services team delivered great webinars to keep you motivated and to help you prepare your mindset/profile for the jobs you'll be hunting for. We also received updates about the job market during the pandemic and post-graduation. I definitely recommend this route of if you have the determination and commitment to change careers!

In addition to learning all the basics (and more) of the MERN stack, this bootcamp taught a way learning and a state of mind which in my opinion is the most important. To me it was the best and fastest way to go from knowing almost nothing to being able to work as a developer. Another very important part of the bootcamp is the coaching and career services we get when we graduated. Not only the advice we get there are super usefull and really helped me to keep moving and get my first job but it also allowed me to set a path of what I need to learn next and how. I did not enlist as a total beginner, but I could see it to be extra demanding and overwhelming for one. The instructors and teacher are very good at what they do. Tailored technical help is available at your fingertips whenever you feel stuck, albeit in a queue :P. This plays a big part when learning something new and demanding. After graduating, it is not over. You are offered job support to help you ease your way into a developer position if desired. CV tailoring, mock interviews, building online presence: you can expect things of the like. My only cons is the steep price for tuition. Though the quality was very good, I believe in my opinion the suggested price is very high. Nonetheless, I enjoyed my experience and recommended it. Even more if it was a bit less expensive.

TLDR: I would recommend this bootcamp to anyone who in interested and isn't too sure about making the jump into development. With these teacher, anyone who puts in the work will be a developer!! The school proved to be very flexible, since COVID happened right as we were starting the class, and within weeks they implemented an online structure for us to follow the course remotely instead of in-person as planned. The stack they teach is extremely relevant, and an excellent base for any developer to get started and have a solid base. We went through HTML and CSS, and then basic, Javascript, NodeJS, React and MongoDB.  The instructors were top notch, extremely patient, and very knowledgable, and also very easy to contact and get help from (very important!!) The best part for me was the excellent post-graduation support for job seekers. They helped me with my cv and portfolio, but more importantly, they have interview coaches (both for HR interviews and tech interviews). How to present yourself, how to do away with the stress of interviewing, and how to best present yourself to interviewers.

That is part of the journey. 2. Know how you learn. Being aware of your own learning style will help you immensely, especially if you have never coded before. 3. Studying coding is not like studying a language, or analyzing literature, or learning psychology. Either your code works, or it doesn't work. There is no middle ground. There is nothing subjective about coding. So, you have to practice over and over again and learn what breaks the code and what works and keep working at it until you get it right. 4. Don't stress if you prefer a stack other than the one you learn in boot camp. I am using a totally different stack at work than the one we learned in boot camp, but learning React made it easier to learn a new framework. 5. While you're in bootcamp, get into the habit of structuring your code properly. It will serve you well when you start your job and when you're interviewing. 6. When bootcamp ends, your coding journey as just begun. Code as much as you can after bootcamp, every day if possible. 7. The b-t in bootcamp stands for BASIC training. After you're done, will be qualified to work as a JUNIOR developer. You will have to stay curious and learn new technologies as you go along. 8. If you can, review the React documentation, or watch some videos on React, before the bootcamp starts, especially if you have never used a framework before. 9. Boot camp will feel rushed. I highly recommend Journey Education bootcamps, the curriculum is up to date with the latest releases of React (hooks, Redux, useReducer, etc) and includes many intensive hands-on workshops. You will learn not only the latest trends about the MERN stack... Read More but also the most important concepts of coding. Our teacher (Josh Comeau) had a lot of experience and participated in international conferences. I initially signed up for a face-to-face program since all this was new to me. I had the idea that it wouldn’t work in a virtual environment so I dismissed this option. However, due to COVID-19, we had to go virtual and I couldn’t be happier. While the program kept its professionalism and the technical advisors kept supporting us with any doubts or issues we could have during the learning process, we also had the advantage of learning from home. I could concentrate on my learning without worrying about the time wasted with commute. I doubted the program before I signed up because it didn’t guarantee an internship or a job once it’s done and I couldn’t have been more wrong. The program philosophy is that success is only in your hands, but this will not prevent you to be accompanied every step of the way by the career services team. By following their advice and working hard on my job applications, I was able to land in a great position as a Full Stack Web developer in less than a month after graduation

I felt confident with my basic knowledge of JavaScript at this point but I still had a lot to learn.

8 weeks later, 3 colleagues and myself managed to build a mobile app using React Native. We were all surprised by the incredible evolution we went through.

Then the job searching process began and believe it or not, after only 2 weeks and a half, I had two job offers on the table. I accepted an amazing offer, better than I could’ve imagined when I started all this, better than the conditions I had working as a Senior Digital Marketing Specialist!
