Jacques is an amazing instructor who cares about his students and their learning progress. We were also very lucky to have a fantastic TA. But what is especially great about DecodeMTL is that they really care about your success after the bootcamp is over. Kevin goes above and beyond to help you with your job hunt and you really feel like DecodeMTL is not just a money maker but really a community of people who help and support each other.

If you’re looking to become a web developer, I highly recommend DecodeMTL. I landed a great job with amazing working conditions after the bootcamp. It’s hard work and you need to be 100% committed, but it’s worth it.

I was hesitant to start the course, unsure if 8 weeks is long enough to be job ready. While it is a short amount of time, I think you really get what you give. If you really devote yourself to the course you'll come away not necessarily knowing everything(obviously)... Read More but you'll leave with a good base and know how to pick up things quickly. Their head instructor is really open and is dedicated to improving Decode's curriculum, and makes tweaks to the learning material every semester based on feedback and evaluation. Some parts of the curriculum that I thought could be improved while I was learning there have already been implemented, and I bet it'll continue to improve year after year. Decode's job support kept close tabs and gave me feedback and advice that I definitely wouldn't have come across on my own, and is probably the number one thing that sets them apart from other similar web development bootcamps.

I worried upon signing up for this shindig that I was selling my soul for the next two months. I mean "locked up" for two months with classmates I don't know and a teacher I've never heard of...stuffs scary y'a feel? What if they smelly? What if they... Read More rude? What if they steal my lunch and give me wedgies?
So in I go in to deCodeMTL full to the brim with silly fears and I'm blown away. Like swwoooosshh you wouldn't believe. Jacques, the teach in charge, straight up passionate. Knows code like the back of his hand and is a jedi in the ways of the dad jokes.
Now my experience in academia made it so I was in a class of 200 students and maybe 30 actually wanted to be there. Maybe 15 were actually passionate about it. Here you were 16 students and we all wanted to be here. We were all helping each other. We all wanted this to work and it showed. You didn't even notice time fly. And my heart broke when it was over. I miss those guys n' gals.
So yeah, do it if you want to. But only if YOU want to.

DecodeMTL is an awesome boot camp! All you need to get up and running and building your own web apps, with excellent and fun instruction, and help pretty much always available. Coming from a QA/testing background, the only thing I would want to improve about the program is to add a small section on testing. Otherwise, the program was super informative and full of valuable content!

Though the intensity of such a program is not easy for most, it's extremely... Read More rewarding for those who decide to put in the extra effort and go above and beyond in the work they put in. Every class begins with a lecture on new material that we then put into practice for the rest of the day. At the end of the week, we would generally put together a project that consisted of all the material we learned about during the week which really helped to cement that knowledge in our minds.

The one thing I didn't enjoy as much were the group projects. Usually every group member was tasked with doing 1 thing for the project to keep the workload fair and to emulate working in an actual company, but this meant that you would sometimes miss out on putting other newly learned skills into practice.

As long as you're passionate and dedicated, this is an amazing bootcamp with great people to help you find a job afterwards.

This program was definitely instrumental in helping me attain my goal of becoming a developer, plain and simple. I could not have done it without Decode and the incredible TA's they have. The instruction from the lead teacher was a little off in my opinion.... Read More Instead of teaching us, we were forced to discuss amongst ourselves for Way Too Long. For an 8 week course, I definitely dont feel this is the right approach due to the time constraints, and wasting more time waiting for every student who has an idea walk up and draw it out is not the most efficient way to spend the limited time we had. Regardless of the teaching approach, the projects were very well structured and were incredibly helpful in understanding the concepts shown to us.

If you are able to sit through 'some' wasted time during the morning lectures, and are able to be independent and ask the TA's for help this is definitely the way to go. Oh and the support in getting a job afterwards is also very well structured and helped a lot.

Couldn't be happier with my experience at Decode. The material covered is relevant and up to date which you often won't find by following the traditional CS degree path. The course is taught by a passionate teacher with an organized and well planned curriculum.... Read More Expect to do daily exercises, workshops and a series of engaging projects towards the end. Additional support is available daily via a rotation of knowledgeable TA's and a Slack network of past students and developers.

I managed to get 3 job offers and land the job and salary of my dreams (literally the place I wanted to work at before I even started the bootcamp) after following their career services program and preparing through their mock interview and technical tests. Never imagined I'd end up somewhere so great so soon after completing the program.

Like anything in life, be prepared to put in hard work to see the results, but Decode does everything in their power to give you all the tools and support you need to get there and everyone from the prof to the admin to the TA's genuinely want to see you do well and succeed.

Can't think of a reasons not to do Decode. Definitely a worthwhile investment.

DecodeMTL offers a fast paced environment that teaches you all the fundamentals of web development. The instructor, Jacques Le Normand is excellent and is genuinely passionate about teaching. As an ex-Google employee it is obvious that he did not go into teaching because he had no other choice. He makes the topics engaging and forces you to think reasonably about programming, allowing for a fast comprehension of an otherwise difficult subject.

Alongside the lead instructor are teaching assistants who are all accomplished developers. They provide invaluable insight and help whenever needed and are extremely helpful.

The president Kevin Khoury, is well organized and kind and routinely checks up on the students to see how everything is going. Especially after the course is done, he never forgets to offer a helping hand, even when you would think his duties are done!

Overall, I am extremely blessed to have made the decision to join DecodeMTL. If you are struggling in your decision, wondering if the investment will pay off; from my experience: Yes it will.
