The instructors, content and pace are terrific. I am experienced in data science and not only was the boot camp a nice hands-on refresher, it was an ability to focus for a week, build and improve models in R and deploy them in Azure and cover many other relevant topics along the way. I highly recommend this camp to anyone who wants to improve their skills or want to learn more about data science from highly qualified and effective instructors.
I've been back at work for a bit over a week since the bootcamp, and I can confidently say that this training was amazing, and it's made a huge difference in my ability to do my job. I come from a strong statistical and research-oriented background, but it's primarily academic in nature. So I wasn't super aware of machine learning, data science terminology, etc. But after a week, not only do I have a stronger understanding of data science "lingo," but I also came away with a number of new methodologies that I can start implementing immediately.
It was definitely an intense week (10 hour days plus homework), but the pace of the class was great, the length of each class wasn't terrible, and we were fed well and had a number of breaks. We were given just enough theory for us to un...Read more
This was a very well organized bootcamp. I spent several months before the bootcamp taking various online courses, and it was difficult to know where to begin and where to focus my efforts: statistics, mathematics, machine learning, python, r, data engineering, etc. This bootcamp did an excellent job of cutting through the noise to get down to what is really important to get started in the field. They emphasize the fundamental concepts rather than the specific tools to use. During the bootcamp we used R, but we were provided the equivalent python code.
The instructors took the time to answer all of our questions and made sure everyone understood the concepts before moving on. In addition, they offer support post-bootcamp and mentorship for a kaggle competition. Overall, I was very hap...
Thanks for your review. Could you please describe level of your knowledge prior to entering this course. Reason i ask: I'm in the search of a bootcamp for python with further studying of data science. My knowledge level is still very basic and i wonder if i should improve python knowledge and be more confident with programming before taking this course. Thank you for your answer. Julie
I joined the DSD bootcamp in Paris in November. I really enjoyed how the bootcamp was structured - getting for a feel for the data first through different types of visualisation and then building up our intuition for how the models work before writing the code. Then gradually building up complexity - introducing the pitfalls and then how they are currently solved. A good mix of theory and hands-on practice. We entered a Kaggle competition so we know how to do it now, and also employed the Internet of Things on the last day! I was also impressed by how the instructors took the time to answer all our questions and make sure that we all understood - given how 5 days isn't long! The support afterwards is also very good - I'm now working through a fat workbook! I funded my own place on the...Read more
I have just attended the DatascienceDojo bootcamp in Paris and, honestly, it has been amazing week: a wonderful adventure. The bootcamp is quite intense and demanding, it takes you through the different steps of the data science process building up the relevant knowledge to start working in on data science tasks. You learns how to leverage technologies, like the R ecosystem or the Azure ecosystem, to create data analysis and products. Lots of valuable insights, met wonderful and interesting people, good discussions and lots of fun. At the end of the bootcamp you feel completely energised and ready to continue the data science journey wherever it takes.
The Data Science Dojo boot camp was a great way for me to go from knowing little about data science to knowing enough to make me effective at planning strategic data science initiatives in my organization. In addition to getting a good feel for the tools and processes of data science, I also learned a lot of hands-on skills. The course was dense so over the course of the five days the friendly and knowledgeable instructors provided a fantastic amount of information. I had so much fun learning the tools and skills I kept up with my data science education and managed to do two months of an online course in two days just with the knowledge I learned during the bootcamp
This Bootcamp brings me some hands on experience of machine learning on clouds, feature engineering for improving predictive models, and data engineering/pipelining. Especially, you can be familiar with Azure. To flourish your learning in Bootcamp, you had better to study again mathematical expression, some statistical terminology, etc...
The instructors gave us a lot of learning resources(you maybe surprise!!) It is one of my favorite thing of the bootcamp. Learning never ends up!
My name is Kevin Hillaker. I recently transitioned to data engineer in the manufacturing industry. To be honest, I was overwhelmed with the breadth and depth of the field.
Attending DataScienceDojo was a smart move. The pre-work and boot camp have allowed me to better understand what it takes to be successful in the field, and some of the pitfalls to watch out for as a new practitioner. I presume the same is true for the post-bootcamp coursework (I’ll know soon enough).
With this new found information, I believe I am now on a trajectory to develop a domain specific methodology. The boot camp provided tools to evaluate data, engineer features, build and evaluate models.
All of the topics covered were presented in a way anyone can learn. Further, questions were actively e...Read more
I cannot say enough good things about the Data Science Dojo bootcamp. The instructors were knowledgable and engaging, and the material was not only relevant but extremely interesting. I thought they did an amazing job touching on all topics at both a high level and then also going deep into the logic underneath. After this week I truly feel I know what it means to be a Data Scientist and how to use the tools at my disposal to draw actions/insights from data.
Data Science Dojo Bootcamp was just awesome! The five day training was intense but very informative. They teach you core fundamentals of Data Science that you won’t find anywhere online. In addition, there are hands-on labs that gives more confidence to handle any dataset. I really liked Raja’s interactive, discussion-based teaching approach that was my most valuable experience. I am really glad that I attended this bootcamp and would definitely recommend to everyone.
An immersive review of applied data science.
This class applies the basic concepts of machine learning, with hands-on examples in classification, regression and unsupervised learning.
It even touches upon technologies and architectures currently important to business who need to collect and process data... (in real time !)
This course encourages participants to understand the basics and realize opportunities to improve decision making with data.
Besides an intense week of training, the course instructors are well prepared and experienced in the field. They coach their students in the
applying the techniques and are excited about data science. They truly want the participants to understand the concepts presented and
be successful in applying them for the class, and their...
The training provides a very well balanced approach to machine learning from
- Data Exploration (Understanding your data!!)
- Multiple types of machine models and what you should use
- How the underlying fundamental models work (text analytics, regression, classification, clustering, etc)
- Multiple tool sets from R, Python, Azure and AWS. (Exposure to what's out there!)
I would consider the best parts of the class being
- real world applications (twitters, real time transactions, etc)
- in class competition of real problems.
- knowledgeable instructors!!
The instructors obviously have real world experience; they provided great feedback on the varied other students problems. Which ranged from government, insurance, software, to education.
This one week bootcamp will get you up to speed on the most important concepts and technologies to become an effective data scientist. After the bootcamp you will have enough knowledge to go deeper into more specialized topics, since you will have a pretty good idea of how a data analysis pipeline should work.
The courses are really useful and the speakers are knowledgeable in their fields.
I just completed the Chicago bootcamp and I can say that the Data Science Dojo team exceeded my expectations. I had some R coding experience (but no formal education) and work in the derivatives industry, using statistics and regressions pretty regularly, so I had some strengths in a few areas, but my skills and stats theory were very very rusty. I did a great deal of homework on competitors and settled on Raja's team, in no small part due to the location as I am a Chicago local, but also due to:
Strong curriculum (and professor) in machine learning
End-to end hands on experience with trade practitioners
Interaction and energy that comes with a bootcamp
I expected to learn a great deal, but I also assumed I would be swimming in confusion more often than...Read more
