Course Description:

UX Academy is an intensive online design program catered towards career-switchers looking to get their first UX/UI/product design role. You'll complete over 480 hours of coursework, develop a portfolio, and hone your skills through 1-on-1 mentorship, peer Group Critiques, and Career Services.

Designlab has just released an updated curriculum for 2022 building on all of the things that have made UX Academy so successful, including 30+ new video tutorials, 60+ new lessons, and over 50 reimagined projects to help you put theory into practice and build a unique, diversified portfolio that contains 4 stellar case-study projects.

The program is broken into 2 main phases.

Phase 1 is devoted to skills building, through a series of 40-60 hour modules that cover the UX design process (topics like User Research, Interaction Design, Prototyping & Testing, UI Design, and more). In Phase 1 you will go through lessons (readings and videos) followed by projects. In total, you'll do 30-40 short projects in the first phase of the course (each module contains many hands-on exercises to help you build skills).

Phase 2 is focused on portfolio-building, through in-depth capstone projects that you work on. You will work on 3 in-depth capstone projects in this portion of the course — end-to-end design projects that help you build on the foundation you developed in Phase 1. You’ll create portfolio deliverables, write case studies, and put it all together with your own online portfolio. We’ll also focus on getting prepared for the next steps: creating a cover letter and resume, cleaning up your online presence, and putting together an action plan for your job search.

Once this core coursework is over, we’ll begin the next stage of the journey: your job search.

We’ll pair you up with your own Career Coach, who will work with you to see where you are in the process — beginning with a skills assessment and a review of your portfolio and job search plan. After this session, your Coach will provide tailored coaching and mentorship each step of the way to help you succeed (additional curriculum to build skills, feedback on portfolios and cover letters, practice interviews and critiques, negotiation help, and more).

Course Description:

Data forms the foundation of effective product and UX design, empowering designers to shape products that precisely address user needs and enhance user journeys. Moreover, data cultivates collaboration by allowing designers to more effectively communicate with diverse teams and quantify design's impact on business metrics. In this 6-week course, experienced UX/product designers will build strong proficiency utilizing product data – from selecting pertinent metrics to devising experiments, formulating data-informed design improvements, and delivering data-driven insights to colleagues within their organizations. Students will engage in self-paced online lessons and participate in hands-on projects each week. They will also meet with an assigned peer group at a regular, scheduled time. These peer group sessions will be led by a design mentor with expertise in data-driven design and will aid students in refining their project work, addressing outstanding questions, and ultimately gaining the confidence to leverage data in their respective design roles adeptly.

Course Description:

Prototyping in Figma is an in-depth four-week course designed to elevate an individual's skill level in building interactive prototypes in Figma from proficient to advanced. Participants will develop and implement their own strategies for creating prototypes at the appropriate fidelity level, then advance to building functional versions in Figma that accurately mimic intended user interactions. You'll gain the expertise to effectively present your design solutions to stakeholders and ensure seamless communication of wireframes and nuanced interactions to software developers.

Course Description:

Looking to transition into a career in UX/UI design? Starting with visual and UI design is a smart first step. Our flexible, 4-8 week UX Academy Foundations course pairs you 1:1 with an expert mentor who will guide you through essential visual design concepts and practical skills. Your mentor will provide written feedback on your work and meet with you for eight personalized sessions to discuss design concepts, project work, and the UX/UI industry. Each week, your coursework will build upon itself, culminating in a final project that showcases your new skills and prepares you for entry into UX Academy.

As a bonus, upon completing UX Academy Foundations, you’ll receive a $500 credit toward your UX Academy tuition—making the Foundations course essentially free!
