Product Gym is a 6 week - Product Management Course designed to transition working professional into a product management career. The goal of Product Gym is to equip students with the necessary tools to make informed decisions about the day to day working schedule as a PM. At the end of this course, students will be able to confidently build a product roadmap and define the MVP, identify the key languages needed to build this software, and articulate a specific use case in their background that is relevant to product management.
Simply put, Product Management is fundamentally a mix of soft skills and technical skills where you will eventually sit at the intersection of all the stakeholder departments at your company. To be successful, you need a firm understanding of who those stakeholders are, what their role is, how product managers currently interact with them, and the level of domain knowledge you need to know about their role.
The best way to achieve this level of understanding is to hear directly from those stakeholders. Product Gym not only sources the best product managers as instructors, but also subject matter experts that will be your peer and counterparts in the companies you eventually work at.
I joined Product Gym after getting disappointed and wasting my money on Product School. The approach that Rich and Cody take to help people to get their first product management job is practical & effective. The entire curriculum is based on the learning... Read More and implemented immediately model which is different from other providers where you have to go through the whole curriculum first and then career-related services come into the picture. According to me the best part of Product Gym is lifelong access to materials and community. I always recommend product gym to people looking to start their career in Product Management.
"Product Gym - A worthy investment if you want to be a PM"
PG is simply at another level of its understanding about the hiring process. They know the exact process to get you hired and perform well as a PM. The process is tough and demands a lot of hard work and dedication. However, if you put the hard work as... Read More expected in the 'GYM' as it is referred to, you will get the results. The program is structured really well to pay attention to every minute detail that goes into the job search. The course structure is good enough for you to learn the concepts and enable the candidate to not just land and offer but to do well in the role. Only con: Sometimes you feel lost in first 2-3 weeks about the next steps. A little more interaction would help in that phase. Although after that you are on cruise control :) Keep up the good work PG team!
I am a product manager in the Bay Area and until this week, I had been at the same company for over 8 years. I joined PG not to transfer into product, but to develop the skills I needed to continue in my career. I was skeptical about joining Product Gym... Read More at first, but honestly it was worth it. Product Gym helped me identify where I was falling short in interviews, understand how to market myself, and gain the confidence I needed to land a job offer. Product Gym is a very appropriate name. Just like a gym, the results you get are directly related to the work you put in. During my interviewing journey there were many dark moments. Because I had been at the same place for so long, I was worried that my experience was so specific to the needs of the company I worked at, that other companies would only see me for what I had done rather than what I could offer. Hours of preparation and practice for each interview seemed to lead to rejection every time. It was demoralizing. My commitment to PG’s process and the resources PG offers helped me stay on track, get past those negative thoughts, learn from my mistakes, and just keep on applying. After about a month and a half I received my first offer. If you are an existing product manager like me and you are feeling stuck in your career, Product Gym can give you motivation and the tools you need to find your next PM job. Their process worked for me, and if PG accepts you, it WILL work for you too.
Product gym was an amazing experience where I learned the fundamentals of becoming a product manager. I have no prior experience in the product management space, but they helped me develop a belief that a lot of the skills I had in my previous job possessed... Read More PM skills. They have classes, coaches, and a community to lean on during this tough journey!
"PG is the quickest way to make your PM dreams come true!"
I joined Product Gym, started the full program with branding. It is amazing, you get an in-depth review of your resume, cover letter and LinkedIn. They look through everything and after an iterative process only approve the best version of the documents.... Read More Trust them on this process because it has immediate results. I started applying on 01/28/2022, I had an offer in hand for a target company and city by 02/18/2022. Before PG I wasn't even getting a callback. So branding is worth it! Next is skill training, PG has weekly twice coaching calls and weekly twice classes to get you up to speed for interview prep and even on the job skill development. Their focus though is specifically to get you hired and get you real PM experience, so that's how the program is designed to get interviews, practice, and get hired. Lastly, it's a lifelong membership with the PG community. You can come back again for your 2nd, 3rd ... and so on jobs, and relearn or get updated on the newest interviewing skills and trends. You have a high level of interaction with members often materializing in a strong sense of community. I highly recommend PG!
It's been a great honour to be part of the Product Gym community. I'm a big fan of what the founders said "This is Product Gym, not Product Spa". Honestly, I didn't quite understand the statement at the beginning, but now I believe it makes perfect sense,... Read More really! As a Product Manager, we not only have to master the product knowledge and principles, but also we need to build the foundations of the product mindset. Indeed, helping professionals from various backgrounds build a solid product mindset is one of the key differentiators between Product Gym and other Product Management training programs. Once you've built the product mindset, it opens up a whole new outlook and keeps you motivated in the product world. In fact, everyone is truly a Product Manager of your own and everyday you're building yourself as a "Product" along the journey of your life. You constantly experience the ups and downs, but meanwhile you work hard to be nimble and robust to reach your product goals at scale, which, I believe, is the most valuable lesson I have learned from Product Gym. Thanks Rich, Cody, PG coaches and peers for all your help, support and encouragement! I was so lucky to have you all with me in my PG journey!
Product Gym has been the best career decision that I have made thus far. I come from a non-traditional background, having been in education (professor, administratrator) for most of my nearly 20 year career. On top of that, I’ve been working abroad in... Read More Asia for over ten years. However, I always dreamed of a full-time career in tech back home in the States. About a year ago, I stumbled upon the role of product manager and realized that my skill set would match the role. I first started my PM journey by enrolling in a different certification program. Though I had dabbled in a couple startups before, I didn’t know much about how to be a PM nor did I realize how competitive it would be to get a PM job, so I thought that program would help. Unfortunately, when I completed the program, I still lacked confidence and had no idea how to actually get a job. Then I stumbled across Product Gym through some YouTube videos that I thought were really helpful. Though skeptical that the program would work for someone with my background, I went ahead and signed up. There is no question that PG asks a lot of their members. You have to work hard for what you want. But PG gives incredibly practical, concrete advice that actually produces results. After working with the coaches, my resume now actually opens the door to interviews. And I know that my interview skills have improved significantly through everything I learned in the PG classes and through the coaching calls. I’ve been effective in getting to the final rounds of PM interviews and finally just landed an offer. What seemed like a daunting goal as an aspiring PM has become a reality. Thank you so much, PG!
Being a product manager already I had some initial reservations coming into Product Gym as I had been getting some interviews and was getting some interest, but after is when things really blew up. They really helped me nail down my messaging, revamp... Read More all my content, and ace the case study interview. You can honestly even get 10+ interviews a week and really find a job that you like and want rather than just what's there. I cannot recommend them enough for anyone on the fence about whether the investment is worth it.
"A Practical experience to attain my goal of becoming a Product Manager"
As someone who doesn't believe in doing online courses I can firmly say the joining Product Gym was one of the best decisions I ever made. To elaborate the reason I believe that Product GYM differs from most online courses is that they don’t conceptualise... Read More themselves as a course both as a gym meaning that the metric of success they measure the members by isn't a certificate or awards but on the practical results achieved by members. Simply put Product GYM success is based on whether you get a job in the very sought after position of Product Manager. Given this practical philosophy they have a high success rate and it is the reason I joined and the reason I am giving such high praise as I have made the successful transition from QA tester to Product Manager. Moreover I joined product gym from a while being based in Ireland then the company is based so I was originally nervous that the differences in our respective markets meant that the lessons learned in Product GYM irrelevant. However I am pleased to say I was wrong and at the lessons learned in Product GYM on how to think like a product manager, how to sound like a Product Manager and how to interview like a Product Manager are universal regardless of the country you are based. Overall I cannot recommend product gym highly enough. if you want a highly effective team who will teach you all the practical lessons you will need too inevitably get you a job as product manager then I would urge you to becoming a member.
Going through this program gave me the knowledge and the confidence I needed to land a product manager role! Before starting Product Gym, I was in a dead end Administration position and incredibly burnt out, working such long hours for pay that I could... Read More barely survive on. In looking for a career that my skills could transfer into, I discovered product management. A really great thing about Product Gym is that they offer an initial discovery call where they meet with you, and talk about your background and skills and assess if you're a good match for the program before you're approved to sign up. The program is a treasure trove of all of the different aspects that you need to know about product management, all taught by different part-time instructors that are actively practicing their craft, and guidance/advice is available through coaches and some alumni that have made their way through this program. A few things to be keenly aware of: *This program doesn't work if you don't. Guidance for nearly every aspect or problem that you could think of is very accessible, but there is no hand holding involved. *Once you commit and start, don't stop. Momentum is everything in this program. *The founders and coaches within this program are rockstars, and they are incredibly candid with any and all direction and feedback.
