The course instructors also provide regular individualised advice on students codes which allows the students to improve their skills and fill any gaps in their knowledge. I definitely recommend Rocket Academy's Basics course to anyone that is interested, curious or passionate about coding and especially for anyone considering a career switch like me who wants to find out if this is can be a career path for them.

The basics course material was well thought out, with a good balance of exercises that solidified your grasp of the core concepts, and those that pushed you to think deeper. I really appreciated the responsiveness of the tutors, both during and outside... Read More of class hours. I was never stuck on any segment for long as they always tended to student questions via slack or zoom calls within a couple hours. This was really helpful to me as it kept me motivated throughout the course. I also really enjoyed the pair programming aspect of the course, I think I learnt the most trying to problem solve with my partner, plus the classes are kept small so that the tutor could attend to all student pairs. I would recommend this course for anyone who wants some exposure to coding, it was both enriching and enjoyable for me, and made me want to continue with the bootcamp. Lastly, the virtual aspect of the class was also a big plus for the added flexibility, but also it never felt like a lesser alternative to having classes in person. Students are connected as a class as well as a cohort on slack, with everyone asking questions/ sharing the difficulties that they face, which gives a sense of community. The tutors and students are active on the slack channels, there are frequent online industry talks/events happening and their enthusiasm for their work is palpable and inspiring.

Course gets straight to the point with great instructor, concise learning materials & challenging projects. Would be great to have even more "projects" for us to practice even after the course! For pre-class & in-class materials, maybe good to introduce... Read More even more functions (for those who are interested) so that we can be exposed to "what majority wouldn't know at the beginning" because the main concern is that i don't know what i don't know.

I think it is a good course for individuals who are highly motivated and can devote sufficient time to learn. Some exercises can be challenging and you won't get much out of the course if you don't spend time on the pre-class work. I like the course format... Read More and material - Akira and Kai did a good job with the material, it is done in digestible chunks and in a progressive manner. The sectional structure works well as each section leader can offer more individual support to the section members. The RA community is also very helpful - you can post questions in the RA Slack and there is always someone to help when you are stuck with your work.

I attended the basics course in June 2021. I found this course became progressively challenging, but that's a testament to how much you can learn from it. The course is relatively time-consuming, given the comprehensive course material and rather challenging projects. Do give yourself plenty of time to work on this if you want to learn as much as possible. The course instructors and section leaders were really approachable and helpful if we had any issues with our code. Overall, it's been a great experience learning the fundamentals of coding :)

I took the basics course with Rocket Academy to refresh my knowledge in coding. I really like how the course is structured to be interactive and peer reviewed as it gives me the exposure to how codes can be written differently and better. The live sessions... I am totally new to coding, but rocket academy really provides step by step basic to warm me up and familiarise myself with the basics of coding. The best thing is there are projects along the way that helps to reinforce the understanding of the concepts... Read More learned and their application. Pros - Effectively teaches us the basic understanding of how coding actually goes. Not the indepth technical terms, but rather the fundamentals of how to look at code.
