Full Stack Web Developer

Cost: $16,950
Duration: 12 weeks
Locations: Online, Los Angeles, Irvine, Culver City
In-person Available Online
Course Description:

Sabio will ensure that all trainees are competent in developing cross browser applications targeting both desktop and mobile clients.

The full stack program will equip you to utilize a myriad of software development tools used by industry professionals to develop, debug and design dynamic web applications; conducting both front-end and back-end development, application program interfaces (API’s), back-end data stores such as relational database management systems (RDMS) and team development strategies. The course will prepare you to perform the duties of a typical entry-level Full Stack Web Developer. A Full Stack Web Developer is a programmer with a technical skill set that allows them to perform in client side, server side/middle tier, and backend-database development environments. Their main tasks are to develop, design and debug software that runs in a cross-browser environment served out of a web server backed by a database server for data persistence. The course will allow you to be substantially knowledgeable in the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) from concept to finished product and the ability to specialize, if they choose, in anything from front-end to back-end development technologies. You will obtain the knowledge and skills to develop relational databases and work with data that is not stored in a relational manner. They will interact with their own API’s and third party API’s. They will also be exposed to many User Interface and User Experience (UI and UX) () design concerns while building an understanding of how to gather customer and client requirements. They will be fluent in performing quality assurance testing and fundamental security concerns. Specifically, the course will produce a programmer/developer that can work with many of the most popular design patterns, third party APIs, libraries and technologies including but not limited to: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Bootstrap, MVVM, MVC, AngularJS, jQuery, Ajax, Inversion of Control, Dependency Injection, Principles of Object Oriented Design, Data Structures, Data Access, Database Design and Architecture, GIS, SMS, SMTP and RESTFul Api Design. Sabio focuses on a single, group based project that exposes you to the full Software Development Life Cycle as experienced in a team practicing Agile/Scrum project management and development principles.

"Sabio - An amazing investment for a career in tech!"

If you are looking for a code bootcamp that will prepare you to get a software engineering job in tech, look no further!

TL/DR: Sabio is worth every penny.

As a former student, and someone who has been a part of the Sabio Community for almost two years,... Read More

The best thing about Sabio is its wonderful community. Once you graduate there are hundreds of engineers in the LA area who are willing to help you out at the drop of a hat, whether it be on the job hunt, help with technical issues, housing, you name it. Let that thought settle in.. I say that because to have a lifetime of that help, for whatever the price is already pretty worth it. But to see it in action is a beautiful thing, because Sabio also has the most diverse group of engineers-in-training that I've encountered, some of these people might never have felt they had a chance to jump into technology, but Sabio was there to give us a chance. Me and my brother both graduated from Sabio and are working in tech. My entire family is so grateful to Sabio, and I know a lot of families are too. Because frankly many of us would be working unhappy jobs, or might even be in more dire situations professionally and economically.

Taking into consideration the robust pre-work instruction(highly encouraged), 12 week cohort and post-graduation community, Sabio is a grand slam. If there are any kinks, thats normal, and to be expected in any and all organizations. But as with anything in life. Its about taking the opportunity and running with it, and not looking for excuses to fail. As someone who has seen, and even taken courses at competitors, Sabio is in a league of its own because of its outstanding community, and track record of helping place people in tech jobs.

"Sabio - The Wisest Choice"

Let me start by saying that I was, am, and probably always will be a skeptic.

What this means is that, when I was stuck in a job I detested 6 months ago and considering escape routes, I didn't actually, truly believe this would work. I wanted a career... Read More

I picked Sabio because their statistics were fantastic (and unpadded!) and because I would get to work on a real project with a real client rather than a variety of small, inconsequential assignments. The skeptic in me didn't allow me to get excited about everything else they promised - continued support, a truly caring community, incredible instructors... So I focused on the concrete, quantifiable promises instead. I committed to this because I was desperate to get out of where I was, but all the while I doubted that this would seriously work.

Prework started - 1 month of 15 hours/week instruction to prepare us for the real deal. We learned the foundations of front-end and middle-tier development, enough that we would not be useless when the actual 12-week program started. The instruction was more than good enough to penetrate through my never-did-this-sort-of-thing-before barrier. I got great guidance and learned a ton, but throughout the prework process I was still skeptical. Sure, things were going great, but there was no way that I would really be able to get a career at the end of all this...

And then the 12-week program slammed me in the face so hard that I didn't have the time or energy to be skeptical anymore. Sabio expects 70 hours a week from its fellows, with you absorbing and applying insane amounts of material every hour of that. The challenge exceeded anything I had ever done before. I was tested physically, mentally, and most of all emotionally, and my skepticism was melted down into a puddle of insecurity that I found myself splashing around in all too often. I wasn't doubtful anymore - I was freaking POSITIVE that I couldn't do this.

But I was also surrounded by 5 others who were going through the exact same thing. My cohort was full of extraordinary people from all sorts of backgrounds. It was a pleasure and a privelege to do this program alongside them, and I'm eternally grateful for their putting up with my insecurities and helping me when I was lost or confused. Furthermore. my instructors Mike and Gregorio were some of the most intelligent, patient, and caring people I've ever worked with.

In fact, the entirety of the Sabio community is incredible. Those promises that I had discounted in my initial decision due to my skepticism were more than fulfilled, and they turned out to be the core reason I would vehemently recommend Sabio to anyone even vaguely considering it. You will be surrounded by other people going through the program, awesome instructors, graduates, and founders, all of whom actually, seriously care about your success and will do their damndest to make sure you do well.

Ultimately, I made it through - all of us did. I learned more in 12 weeks than I thought possible to learn in a year. I scored a fantastic job with a company I fell completely in love with, and at a great salary to boot. Since graduating less than a year ago, I have already received a raise and am now being groomed for a leadership position.

I'm still a skeptic, mind you - there's a small part of me that still wonders if one of these days I won't wake up and realize it was all a really cool dream. But until that happens, I am happy as hell with my decision.

In regards to the program:

Sabio offers professtional experience and I can't think of other bootcamps that do the same. I mean you literally are working with a client to build a web application with a team of developers (your other classmates). The Instructors, actual Lead Developers with over 10 years of experience each, offer incredible guidance and help you learn to solve problems independently and collaboratively. I was a Barista going in and around a month after my graduation I obtained .NET Developer position. Gregorio, in particular, offered crucial advice for applying for jobs and how to self represent yourself, a skill many developers may lack. Also, you gain access to a thriving community of developers who all love to Code, Code, Code. Oh and I can't forget, you get the BEST hoodie ever at the end!!! Awesome program!!!

"Homeless Veteran to 6-figure Salary Thanks to Sabio"

Some people may interpret this as a “get rich quick” type of thing. However, it's not. It's more of a “go into a cave for six months and hopefully get a job when you come out ” type of thing. Subtle difference, but an important one.

My review for Sabio... Read More

My time in service resulted in obtaining funding for the Post 9/11 G.I. bill. I used this funding with the hope of getting into a stable, high paying industry.

After the Marines, I earned my undergraduate degree in a way that allowed me to stretch the G.I. bill and still have 18 months of funding left on it. I decided to exhaust the remainder of it by pursuing a J.D.

During my legal career, I came across a book called Quit Law and Code (William, 2015). (http://quitlawandcode.com/). The Author William (2015) mainly focused on time and ROI, and how those components naturally correspond with hack schools. I decided to explore a career in tech after reading the book. However, before I could get to coding, I had to get over my agitation of typing incredibly slow so I started using https://typing.io/. I coupled my typing practice with introductory coding courses found on https://www.reddit.com/r/learnprogramming/. and https://www.freecodecamp.org/. Since my time in the Marine corps infantry wasn’t the most intellectually stimulating, I took a course on learning how to learn, https://www.coursera.org/learn/learning-how-to-learn.

As I started to spend more time online, I came across an online non-profit organization called Operation-code that helps veterans get into software: https://operationcode.org/. They told me about a code school near me named Sabio that recognized the G.I. bill.
I wanted to know more about the founders so I found this:
http://bit.ly/2tAhHtq. I was quite apprehensive of Sabio, as the company appeared to be run in a “mom and pop” style fashion. Sabio did not seem as well established as other coding schools and that was a red flag for me. It was easy for me to be biased since I had never heard of Sabio, plus their company did not advertise as well as other bootcamps.

I wasn’t sure if Sabio had bonafide outputs, so I researched and found their raw data here:
http://bit.ly/2tzKRsP. The Council on Integrity in Results Reporting (CIRR), the company that posted the data, has standards that prevent deceptive graduation and job placement marketing practices and ensures a student can trust what a school advertises.

My curiosity boner was like “GTFO”. The numbers seem abnormal, right? Too good to be true. I couldn’t wrap my head around a husband and wife claiming they could produce something greater than what most U.S colleges could. I know five languages, served in the Marines, and even after earning a college degree, I still couldn't break $44,000 a year.

After interacting with the founders, what I actually found was that Sabio is a people business, and they’re in the business of helping people. It’s incredible how hard the founders worked to hold a cohort on weekends with 4 people and in four years for it to increase multifold and grow to multiple states and cities while maintaining a 90% + job placement rate.
I participated in Sabio’s pre-work which went over a basic introduction to programming, and further reinforced what I learned on Free Code Camp.

During Sabio:
The material was blasted at us at a breakneck pace and I learned a ton. One of the things I've learned is what “90 hours a week” feels like. I felt like I was drinking out of a firehose every day. I started around 10:00 am and ended around midnight every night. I wasn’t coming from a technical background so I was extremely uncomfortable, but the environment and unique community built around the curriculum catered to the challenges.

Our senior developer (formerly @TMZ) helped me along each step of the way from guiding me on how to approach coding problems to landing offers. The alumni were also especially helpful as they would often take time out of their weekend to assist me for extra practice.

Gregorio, one of the founders, was constantly available and eager to help answer any question I had. He is on site early in the morning until late evening, answering questions peppered throughout the day. He’ll get students food from time to time and talk about the tech industry in a realistic way. His work ethic motivated me to put my head down and get to business. He particularly provided me insight on how to deal with imposter syndrome and how to put my best foot forward after my time at Sabio.
As I was getting closer to graduation, I used https://fearlesssalarynegotiation.com/ and https://www.iwillteachyoutoberich.com/blog/salary-negotiation/ to build my salary negotiation skills.

Post Sabio:
I learned that Sabio’s program isn’t a one-size-fits-all like other coding school giants. Sabio molds their students and alumni in a way that grows our gifts and develops our passions. I started my professional coding career within 90 days of graduation, earning more than I have ever earned while working within the same stack of technologies I worked with at Sabio. Sabio has brilliant professional development courses and events for the alum to take advantage of. This code school is not a joke. The more you put into it, the more you will get out of it. http://bit.ly/2tKYs0D

I love the smell of exponential growth in the morning; it smells like victory. Thank you, Sabio.

What I enjoyed the most about the bootcamp is working in a small classroom setting that is hands-on with a product that will be functional and presentable for your portfolio. It's a very intense training program, but it is very rewarding if you are willing to dedicate the time and invest the money.
