Read More unemployed young professional the ability to create a new network. Meet CEO's and CTO's along with developers from many different companies. The opportunity to listen to ideas and applications that are developing in the Queen City. Being in the part time course allowed me to job search and interview during the day along with visiting companies and attend different tech talks around the city while learning to code at night. But learning to code at night wasn't only it. They provide ample opportunity and assistance to help with the current course work and even in helping you with your own DIY coding projects, syntax errors, generating scaffoldings and much much more. The team at TTS is great and success of the individual coder I believe is an essential key to their mission.....

I fully recommend this 8 week program to anyone and everyone with interest in coding to not only open mental doors but technology doors in your city!

After being dealt with a pink-slip in march I decided to take a leap into school again. I had a coworker that had turned me onto this program and I always heard such good things about the course and the general environment that was created. I enrolled... Read More in the spring class for full-time and being that it had been years since I had learned basic HTML and CSS I knew it would be the best fit. The benefit of doing full-time is that you have more time to perfect your projects that are done in class, the down side is that if you happen to get it on the first try you can sometimes get derailed by catching other up. Other than that the one-on-one availability from all the instructors and past students is amazingly helpful. Not to mention they have an amazing Tour/speaker lineup that helps you find out what it is that you want to do and connects you with potential employers.

I went through the 2015 Spring Cohort in Raleigh and I loved it. I had the chance to meet some great people with interesting stories. Our community organizer worked tirelessly to connect students to local developers in the community. She also helped create... Read More a comfortable and fun environment that made learning much easier. Our professor was thoughtful, insightful and patient. He would regularly stay after his office hours to help any student.

Like anything else in life, you'll get what you put in. Coding is just as hard as picking up any new skill. It'll take time, and lots of effort. You can't expect to come to class for three hours and learn everything that was covered, you have to work hard outside of class. TTS gives you the resources to make this process as smooth as possible. It's up to you to take advantage of them.

Before I started the Learn to Code course in Charlotte, I wondered if I'd really be coding in only 8 weeks. But after completing Tech Talent South's full-immersion Learn to Code course, I can tell you for sure that it's for real.

Learn to Code in 8 weeks = discipline/dedication + resources/support system.

The first half of the equation was up to me. Just like anything else, learning how to do something new takes hard work. You must do the homework, come to class, play an active role, ask questions…that sort of stuff.

The second half of the equation was all Tech Talent South. They provided all the support, resources and tools needed to learn to code in 8 weeks. They provided an engaging classroom setting (you learn by doing…no lectures here), skilled and knowledgeable instructors (they have a genuine interest in your success), and extracurricular networking and education events with companies and leaders in your community (so you can get a job when you finish).

I can't enough good things about my experience with Tech Talent South and learning to code. I highly recommend them.

I am not yet a "developer" but I know enough to guide and troubleshoot. All due to the great staff and learning environment at the TTS part-time program.

As a stay at home with an app that I designed, but didn't develop, I wanted to understand "how things worked" from the back end. I took the part-time class this past fall and looked forward to every class meeting. I'm working toward switching careers (from education) to development in the next few months, and I had a good bit of front-end experience going in. Rails is a lot different... Read More from the things I had worked on before, but very interesting and there seems to be no end to what there is to learn about it! If you're willing to continue to study and work beyond the course, you'll have a solid foundation to build upon. The staff at TTS was so kind, helpful, and supportive to everyone before and during our class. Our teacher was excellent and well-prepared for each class, and really patient with our many beginner mistakes and questions. I have met so many talented people that I certainly wouldn't have met otherwise, both other students and members of the tech community. Building connections like these are so important, and hard to do if you're just working alone at home all the time like I was. TTS made me feel like part of the family!

I completed the Part-Time Code Immersion program this December and couldn't be more pleased. Having only dabbled in basic HTML years and years ago as a middle schooler, I was a bit nervous entering the program. However, I needed to add to my skill set... Read More and I wasn't intimidated by the challenge after spending time chatting over coffee with TTS co-founder, Betsy Hauser Idilbi. When I sat down for our first class, I couldn't tell you what Terminal or Sublime was. Now I am navigating it LIKE A CHAMP, entering lines of code that are the basis for applications, web designs, etc. Somedays, I look back and am floored at how much I learned - and am still learning - thanks to this 8-week course. The program itself was fantastic, but the TTS family and network of passionate professionals is even better. The alumni are wonderful and hardworking and the TTS team is encouraging and supportive. I now can proudly and confidently discuss and show others my Ruby on Rails, Javascript, HTML, and CSS knowledge. Can't wait to continue my journey with TTS in the graduate program soon!

I'll tell you right away that I'm incredibly pleased with my experience at Tech Talent South. The founders and organizers have done a fabulous job of creating relevant material for us to learn by and have gone out of their way to provide different avenues... Read More into the Charlotte tech community. You'll learns tons during lectures, but outside the class there will be several speakers giving you insightful presentations, company tours offering you an inside look, and of course meetups and other events throughout the program.

The wonderful and fortunate thing (for you) about Charlotte right now is that it's in this sort of "spring time" of tech growth. If you start attending meetups you'll see the same faces again and again. Obviously this means those people are seeing YOUR face again and again. Charlotte's tech community is hitting a sweet spot for new job seekers because it's dynamic enough to find interesting opportunities, but it's not so huge either, so you won't face lots of competition and you won't get lost in the crowd.

You will absolutely learn a lot in the class, get the fundamentals of web development nailed down, and end up with a solid portfolio if you see your projects through. But, the real value of Tech Talent South in my opinion is the NETWORKING. You have to put in as much effort outside the class as you do inside; stay to listen to the speakers, go on the tours, find out about meetups, and get yourself to those other events. Make the effort to actually begin conversations, and talk about what you're doing, because any of those people may end up being your way into the job you're looking for.

So, I highly recommend applying to TTS, but just keep in mind you only get out of it what you put in. Put in your all.
