Depends on you how seriously you decide to take the challenge, but don't worry and don't be too hard on you. Mentors will always be there to help. Anyway if you feel the temptation to be too hard on you the program includes coaching sessions where you will learn to forgive yourself in case something went wrong so you can keep having a positive attitude to keep learning with the whole process. The coaching sessions also include techniques to approach fear and be resilient. Mentors will trace the path, but you will organise yourself to follow it, that way they ensure you learn a whole process and way of working.

My scientific background helped in some things but it's important to have a business point of view, which I learned in the course and started to apply. Prepare presentations to a non-technical audience, how present profit and risk for a business, approach a problem/analysis from the business point of view, business goals, ...

my name is Luca Bellarosa and I recently finished the course on Data Analysis and Big date at the Ubiqum Code Academy in Barcelona, starting from October 10th of 2016 and ending on February 10th of 2017.
The course is very dense and since the beginning... Read More you are asked to solve issues in real case scenarios, while at the same time learning new software, concepts, and programming.
Even if intense, the methodology employed by the academy, the so-called "learn by doing" approach, helped me to fix in my mind the new concepts of machine learning, R programming, and forecasting that I was discovering on a daily basis. Weekends were used to round off my knowledge of machine learning by studying the resources that are available to all the students.
During the course you are required to report on your findings on a weekly basis, and this helps you further in fixing the concepts in your brain.
The presence of a mentor that stays with the students during all morning helped me to solve many issues that inevitably arose during the course, without feeling the social gap there is between a student and a professor: this point is very important to me.

The main problem of the course, in my opinion, is that the agenda is incredibly dense to be just 4 months, but I recently found out that they increased the time of attendance to 5 months, so this is not an issue anymore.
All in all, my opinion about the course is very positive, and it promotes a way of learning definitely more practical and long-lasting.
