Vinny along with the TA Rhys were very approachable and encouraging. I enjoyed showing them where I was in regards to the class projects and getting feedback on what I could try next. The live coding made the class engaging and not only helped show the process that a developer might take when solving a problem. This class was a great experience and I would definitely recommend it to not only those seeking careers in data science but for those who just want a general taste in programming as well.

Python for Data Science course conducted by Vinny and Rhys offers a great learning experience for people starting with their journey to become Data Scientists. Vinny starts with the basics and gradually moves on the advance topics. The topics are also... Read More taught on TA sessions with Rhys where we can go deeper and find out more about each topic and what is being applied in the market nowadays. Vinny mixes the intuitiveness, Statistics and the Mathematics on the topic in a balanced way.
As part of the course, he also encourages everyone to do a project, what helped me a lot specially working in group where I could compare my understanding with others and analyse my weaknesses and strengths but both Vinny and Rhys and offer great support.
My only piece of constructive criticism (which by the way is not at all a criticism) would be that the content was more organically brought to us beforehand so we could be exposed to it beforehand for a better understanding during classes exercises, it is a bit heavy content wise and hence breaking it down a little would be something to consider.
Overall, I would highly recommend this course to someone who wants to start a career in the field, that is what I am doing by taking the whole path into Data Science in different modules they offer from basic, intermediaire and advanced package options.

ShaoHua is experienced instructor and he explained the complex tech problem and put them into lots of flow charts which are easy to understand, especially for map/reduce and RDD, the theories were rooted deeply into our mind. and never forget.

I will recommend anyone interested in big data and lack of experience take this course and it will provide you hands on experience and make you feel confident to advance on career path.

I chose this course basically because my company uses Apache Spark and Hadoop distributed system, and I would like to learn more about it. Surprisingly, what I learned from this course has been far beyond my expectation! I wish I knew WeCloudData earlier so that I wouldn't have been that struggled at work.

Before taking this course, I barely understood some log errors such as "Fail to start name node" and could only write simple queries in spark-shell. Now, I learned the theories behind and improved my programming skills. I am even capable to teach my peer colleagues some materials. Moreover, all the best practices and use cases taught in class gave me great insight of how to build pipeline efficiently and let me practice to think about the big picture of a design. It is actually something I appreciate the most, since when I did the project, the overall design architecture just came into my mind immediately after my team defined the scope.

You will still need to work very hard and supplement your learning beyond the classroom instruction with additional resources.

I have finished Python and big data courses up far, both courses are well-organized, project-oriented all along. You can start by applying what have learned, exploring your own tools from there, and also building up step by step as you learn more throughout the courses.

Whenever I got stuck, I could get all the help I need from the instructor, TA and teammates, sometimes I also got motivated by other teams and pushed forward by my instructor to continue working on my project by doing in-class progress report and presentations. The things I have learned here and the final project presentation I did benefits me a lot by showing so much confidence in my big data interviews and helping me handing job offers. I recently took WeCloudData's 'Data Science Toolbox' course, and can say that I had an excellent experience in the course. I learned a lot about the SQL and Python programming languages, and gained a lot of practical knowledge towards a career in data... Read More science/analytics. The instructors and TAs overseeing the course were extremely knowledgable and gave expert instruction, as well as providing practical applications of course material to real world cases and even tips for finding a job in data science. There were a lot of opportunities to practice coding and complete coursework in class, with minimal requirement of completing assignments at home (which was great since all of us students were busy with other responsibilities). The other students in the course were all keen to learn and there was good energy and camaraderie in the classroom overall. My only criticism of this version of the course was the format - it was divided into four very long 9-hour days, which made learning of difficult concepts at the end of these days a lot to handle. However, in response to our feedback, the course administrators ensured us that they were planning to break this course up into shorter, more digestible sessions, so my criticism shouldn't be a problem moving forward. Overall, the course exceeded my expectations, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to pursue a career in data science!
