Things to keep in mind

Was not given the proper pre-work .:'Digital literacy...'

when I usually ask about something I am told to en-quire google.:'google it! it was in your pre-work Rob you should know'

no prerequisites saying i need certain programs to... Read More function until the time we get to a video that says we need these programs installed and working when Linux is an operating system that requires knowledge of understanding how to install and get these certain programs to run and imported into other programs. so when it came time do do that its really difficult to get anything done and takes up other students time trying to get them to run!

Instructor complains that I am not getting my homework in on time and when i explain that I am trying to do my best because of right now this is all im doing morning noon and night so she says i need to manage my learning time and all this we've learned in the pre-work that was given to me and i showed her the pre-work that all it was, was designing and building a website using HTML and styles a.k.a. CSS and the basics of java no Digital Literacy like Tyrel (the other student) has... and he already has a basic understanding of what back end programming is. today i felt was the final straw the broke this camels hump,
I was given an assignment that seems pretty vague to me because i don't know really were to begin these are the instructions on the board as is:

*wireframe for J/S dinner menu project
-not all required aspects in the wire frame
*Dinner menu J/S project
*add to the project about you } start adding real content

when I asked my colleague about the assignment for today that is due tomorrow he had stated that it was all in the pre-work and I showed him that i didn't have that pre-work he told me she knows that and I said well she must've blew that one off or she forgotten.
a lot of the videos that we have seen has a these little coding projects that we do on the fly but they are tough for me to grasp because they are totally off beat for me but then the video instructor goes on to mention that its o.k. that we didn't get it and then he shows his explanation which is actually kinda liberating, what is disheartening for me so far is that I am required to pick up on this coding stuff so fast without real life like understanding how to use these skills until we get an assignment that cant really be possible unless you have any sort of prior knowledge or understanding of the concepts presented.

on a final note it would be nice to have some warm-ups before just running the videos maybe just to balance what we already were shown and possibly a little positive and constructive feedback of what we don't understand instead of just " Google it" which I believe means texting it into Google or "Get some Books to help you Rob, you need to manage your time better!" well that's fine and dandy but that seams a little counter intuitive considering everything is suppose to be simply intuitive or am I wrong? I am so confused.... well I love books as well as writing and if i had time and expense to buy and read a book, texting it into google and have homework done the next day I would but even if i had a good book on all the coding languages required how do i manage my time and expect to get anything accomplished during this half ass learning process. I have a stigma, PTSD,so my anxiety is like having a huge hang nail that I cant pull out and its frustrating because when I am presented with a problem that was instructed on the board to me, even though there really wasn't any solid curriculum to help me manage my learning curve my emotional anxiety throws me a curve ball --reason why I am writing this out--

well I wrote this out without an almost unbiased opinionated approach on the matter in hopes that maybe something can change because I really have high hopes in learning and I have a very comfortable mindset when I am being heartily presented with solid curriculum that would initially be beneficial in the work force. but I am feeling distracted that there maybe other things going on that is causing this specific instructor to really input knowledgeable resources in my study, in a way she tries but it really is half assed, and i understand shes just and instructor not a teacher but like I am saying there should be more to it in the beginning and maybe she truly believe its all there for us, in reality its truly not. otherwise i would have felt comfortable knowing I am actually feeling like I am getting it all and I am afraid what basics i did learn is all going to go out the window without constant practice... apparently this course is designed to inspire and educate us into fully functional coding unicorns.

I really enjoyed my time spend at Bottega, the instructors are more than willing to help me with problems that are really difficult to solve and invest their time to see me succeed in my career path, my experience has been more than amazing, I came at... Read More Bottega with no previous experience at all, the only close computer experience I had was Exel and Google spreadsheet, the amount of material I've learned seemed overwhelming the first few weeks into the program but now I'm confident to apply those skills in the industry, the courses are clear to understand and you get to keep an entire library of the courses to review later on the road, this was a really great selling point since the resources provided are kept updated, I recommend coming to Bottega if you are really interested in coding .

I attended Bottega recently and I loved it and recommend Bottega to anyone. I have friends and family members who have attended other bootcamps and were not able to get the same experience that I got with Bottega.

I loved the course content and the instructors.... Read More I attended their python and react full stack course. The mentorship, teaching, content and help that they provide is awesome. Another big plus is that Bottega is actually accredited, so as I went through the course, learned what I wanted to in order to get a great, high paying job, I also got a good amount of credits that go towards my degree.. That was a big deal for me when deciding what bootcamp to attend.

Before Bottega, I did my best to teach myself, within the first week, I had already learned more than I had taught myself before.. Obviously you don't just sign up for a bootcamp and coast through the course and by the end you are a know all. But I put out enough effort to not only learn the skill that were needed to get hired and get into the field, I was offered a job 7 weeks in and was employed 8 weeks in.

Their goal is to help you figure out what you want to do by teaching you what you need to know to become a programmer, front end or back end, and then get you prepared to apply for that specific position. They help you get a job and continue to offer help in learning and support even after you have got that job.

I don't have a single bad thing to say about Bottega.

Bottega is a great school for anybody wanting to learn coding and development. The instructors are very knowledgeable and helpful. Before you commit to this program just know that you can go to udemy.com and find all of the course work for about $200. Just type in Jordan Hudgens and you will have all of it. Or you could check out teamtreehouse.com. I personally found their program... Read More to be more favorable and affordable. At Bottega the teachers claim to be senior developers but really they are just junior to mid level. In this program you will spend 8 hours a day watching Jordans videos. So the teachers are there to keep pushing play when the next video pops up. You might be wondering why they feel they can charge $12,000 and if you ask them they will tell you they have an amazing job placement rate of 97% which is not true. They will also tell you they offer a money back guarantee if not employed after 3 months of graduation but they will fail to mention all the tedious steps you need to take to qualify. Stephanie is their placement director and when I contacted here about specific jobs she never responded to me. She didn’t show up to multiple appointments that I set up with her. They say they have great support but I have yet to see that. When I inquired about their money back guarantee Stephanie told me I was not eligible because I didn’t use their job tracking system to list which jobs I applied for (even though LinkedIn did that for me). She also told me that I didn’t make the changes she recommended on my LinkedIn profile (which isn’t true). I made all changes that she mentioned and she passed off on it. At the end of her email she accused me of making false public statements about Bottega using a different name and said she was going to sue me for slander. This accusation is not true and was extremely unprofessional of her to make that assumption with no evidence. Do your research. I think there are better programs out there.

I attended Bottega after researching several other bootcamps. Bottega offered far superior curriculum, and made the most sense for my investment. Absolutely loved the course, it’s taught by Jorden Hudgens who is a very smart instructor. Brayden and Andrew also did an amazing jobs dissecting Jordan’s work and explaining it in ways that help you understand it better and not just write and code along.... Read More There main goal here is really to help YOU succeed, but you also have to put in the work and it’s definitely up to you to succeed. They just give you all the tools and resources to help you along this long hard path. It’s no easy, but it will be worth it. If you enjoy working with computers and you want to take your skills to another level I’d highly recommend this bootcamp. Side note I’d recommend attending campus everyday or remoting I’m to the zoom call everyday. Treat it like a job, show up on time and always complete all your work. Finally if you do not get the pre course work done beforehand you will be completely lost for weeks, and spending those first three weeks learning what you could’ve learned in the prep course.

The preperation given here is amazing. Its not just learning code (although they do do alot of that) its also getting you ready for a job. You do interviews. You make a resume. When I first heard about Bottega, I was a little skeptical. Go to a school that may or may not help me in the future, spend 3 months in class full time, which means I couldn't work full time or have any source of income to pay my bills, etc...

I took the... Read More leap! I'll give it a try, sure, why not. Worst case us I give it a few days and if I can't do it, just leave and go back to work. Well it took only one day to realize this is something I needed to do! The 3 month course was tough, both mentally and financially at home, but I made it work and studied as much as I could. I think the biggest thing for me was I stayed motivated and excited to learn something new every day. And when the 3 months had flown by, I knew I was ready to be a full stack developer, confident in my skill set even as short as my experience was.

I look back to the days I was doubting whether or not to attend. A fool I would have been if I would of quit before starting.
