I took this class to discern whether or not to pursue a career change into Product Design. This class definitely helped me make a decision! It is a very intense course for an intro or foundations class; I didn't expect it to be so detailed! The class... Read More goes deep enough to help you decide whether or not you want to continue on to the longer, more rigorous Academy or not without making too much of a financial investment. I thought the class was well worth the money, and the staff were very supportive and encouraging.
One thing to be aware of is that there is a lot of online reading; I expected there to be more videos and fewer articles (although there are videos, too). Also, this class is — perhaps like most things in life — entirely what you make of it. There are opportunities to get extra help with Office Hours, and to get your work reviewed by peers, but they are all optional. It's up to you to decide if you will take advantage of these opportunities or not.
Even though I ultimately decided not to continue on to Academy, I'm still really glad I took this class. I have much more empathy for the designers on my team at work now, and I learned A TON! I hope to still incorporate what I learned into my daily work life in a less formal way. I'd recommend this class to anyone interested in the topic.

I had a great experience with Design Lab. Everyone, from the support team to my m entor, were friendly and helpful throughout my journey. The classes were perfect for someone new to the UX/UI world, but also insightful enough to enjoyed as junior designers.... I loved this course. Considering that it was remote and asynchronous for me worked perfectly. I'm a early millennial, so I'm in between been very technologic sometimes and not at all some times. But for me this format worked perfectly combined with the... Read More mentor session where you can then reflect and get advice from an Industry professional. So if you think you'll feel alone during the process, you won't! Right in week one you have an 1 hour call with your mentor. Additionally, for me being new on UX/UI design (although I'm an architect and filmmaker) the lessons were very instructive and helpful to understand everything. Some people will feel that could be a lot of reading, but I thought it was necessary in order to understand this "new thing." And those lessons also have a refreshing and relaxed tone where you don't feel someone is lecturing you on something hard, and you can even listen to them if you want. In my case I prefer to read because I retain more information compared to listening.

For me this course was awesome. So much that I'll be enrolling in the UX Academy course (21-36 weeks) very soon.

I totally recommend it if your thinking on getting on the UX/UI Design world doing a longer course.

And maybe… I could be one?” It doesn’t throw you into the deep end of Figma on day one. Instead, it’s a well-paced stroll through the basics without needing a tech dictionary to decode it. I finished it feeling smarter, more confident, and actually excited to learn more. If you’re UX-curious, UX-confused, or just UX-clueless and need a sign to start somewhere, this is it. No gimmicks. This is a foundations course that is well worth the expense. You have a good structure, a great mentor, and feedback that is worth while. I also want to highlight the outstanding mentorship I received from Laura. She was consistently professional, supportive, and insightful. Her feedback was always constructive and encouraging, and she truly helped me grow as a designer. Working with her was one of the most valuable parts of the course.

Not only will a professional mentor guide you through the entire course, but they will also support your individual strengths and weaknesses—encouraging or challenging you to successfully complete the program and your final project. I believe that even if you already have some knowledge in the design field, you will still benefit greatly from this program. Highly recommended!

I think I had an advantage of having a graphic design background when it came to a lot of the basics of UI but it was a great experience in learning Figma since... I think as long as you take advantage of all of the videos, how-to guides, watching Figma tutorials and soaking up all the knowledge your mentor can offer, it'll make your overall experience totally worth it. I do think that some of the time estimates were off, some things took longer than they stated but otherwise I highly recommend, especially if you are new to the UX/UI design space. Also the DL support team respond pretty quick and are really helpful with all of the questions or concerns you have. They were really flexible with me since I moved internationally during the duration of the course.
