Read More easy to grasp things and slowly builds into a surprisingly solid foundational knowledge - Access to a great community through discord, the student and mentor interaction here if utilized can really add to your learning experience - Supportive and motivating staff, i am someone who gets frustrated when i feel dumb and well you are going to feel dumb sometimes when you just cant wrap your head around something and the staff are so helpfull and understanding that they get you through it. - invaluable one on one mentor calls. for some the below will be a con but for me many of them were a boon. - This is not high school, and spoonfeeding isnt an option in programming, the whole point is to teach you to become a life long learner and researcher so the tasks are built to have you strugling alittle to find the answer (in the sence that they will ask you to do small things that they have not explicitly explained, youv got to do the research and this is a HUGE part of becoming a programmer) - you are not going to love/understand or instantly bond and speak the same "language" as every mentor, luckily you get to choose which mentor you book calls with for support, try out a few, ask them what they specialize in and find who you work well with, they are all however willing to go the extra mile and will send you resrources and even chat on discord if you are really stuck. - This will take more time and concentration than you think, as a psychology student i could read half the book in third year and well i cummed my degree, you cant skip anything in programming, you have to understand it all, and be able to apply it. My advice is to put the work in and you will reap the rewards, the active careers and mentoring team are amazing tools that will get you where you need to go if you use them.

Hyperyon was a waste of money. The course is very poorly designed. Is it basically a pack with 90 pdfs full of typos. The learning journey is incomplete and missing some basic and important topics you will need on any job application. The differential... Read More is the claimed human reviews and support, which are made by students with no experience, and there was usually a 10-day waiting list to get a 30 min call with a mentor. Mentors are students that didn't necessarily finish the course yet and have no expertise to solve your problems. I had to sign up for Datacamp and Codecademy to learn the basics and be able to finish some tasks at the Bootcamp, as the explanation for their lessons and exercises didn't match the content of the tests. I had to send complaints weekly to the support team because the platform was constantly not working, mistakes were usual, and communication was terrible. Most of my emails were never replied to, and nothing ever got done to fix it. I genuinely think anyone would be wasting their money doing this bootcamp. I did.

Read More criticised by students. Advertised as flexible hours but support is only available Mon-Fri 8 am to 5 pm. If you submit your tasks on Friday evening, the earliest you might get feedback is Monday, making it a real slog to return to old tasks days later. Feedback from markers is very hit and miss as well. Criteria is not made public so you're left to guess what you should be doing, and markers may choose to follow the guidelines or not. Material is both too shallow to give a good understanding, and too narrow to secure a job with. Most focus is put on job seeking from an early time, which is a huge waste of time when you haven't established an understanding of coding. One task is just adding Hyperion to your LinkedIn account!

I was doing a Software Engineering course and it wasn't as smooth as I first thought it would be. I had no experience when I first started that's why it wasn't as smooth/easy. I was told by the admissions department that this course was suitable for complete beginners. It is not. The course content is written in an overly complicated way, expecting some previous knowledge and a lot of independent research. The examples used... Read More in the course material are so far removed from the compulsory tasks that they are unhelpful. At the end of every reading I feel lost. I have to read the compulsory task and spend hours researching the topic via google before I can even attempt the task. Once your task is reviewed you have to resubmit if it's below 75% correct. You receive your feedback but there is no option to message back to the reviewer. Which means if what they are requesting doesn't make sense or feels unfair you are on your own. I opted for a part time course and made it clear to the admissions department that I would be studying alongside a full time job. I made it clear I would only be able to dedicate 10 hours a week to the course. The pace of the course matched with the amount of research needed outside of the material provided by the course means I would never be able to complete this course within the allotted time. The amount of research needed outside of the course material means the course is a waste of money. I could spend 10 hours a week completing youtube tutorials and reading online forums and learn more than this course. I don't know what I have paid for as I do not feel I will come out of this course in 6 months with any confidence or ability to get a job in this field. They speak a lot about offering lots of support. My experience of the discord channel is the mentors on there don't understand how to teach a beginner. If they can't help you they refer you to book a longer call with a mentor. These calls are available mon-fri in normal working hours. However the availability is never next day which means you are on your own for at least a few days. Also, with managing studies alongside a full time job, it means most of the calls (when there are any available) are at times when I am at work. This course has left me feeling stressed and depressed. And down a lot of money!

I enjoyed my coding journey at HyperionDev, it hasn't been an easy one, but I enjoyed every step of it.
