Don't worry if you ARE accepted into the program, you will be fine so as long as you do the work.

My first 30 days on the job, I was crushed though. That time was tough, but I recall I didn't do so well my first 30 days in banking, college, or anything else I did for the first time. You will make mistakes and that's okay. I made tons and you know what its fine here. Most people carry with them the baggage they had from their previous careers thinking product is going to be like that, but its not and that's why you were drawn to the experience anyways. Stop thinking you need to know everything and just trust the process. Take it from me; it took me 8 months to land this job, but I know I could have done it earlier if I wasn't getting in my own way all the time.

Let me tell you something you don't want to do this job search during Q4. I am going to give it to you bluntly. Come prepared, pay attention, do the work, and get ready to be pushed. There is no way for ego here. There is no room for doubt, because the people that come to Product Gym are about one life and that is GET A PRODUCT MANAGER JOB OR DIE TRYING. Thank god for me, I got the job and didn't die. You have to be about this life. I don't understand people that say this is their passion and this is their dream, but don't do the work. Bring your A game and you will be fine.

I come from a sales background for a software company in NYC and got exposed to product this way. I never heard of this job before in my life, nor did I realize that this was what I wanted to do, so naturally when I discovered that my passion was right... Read More under roof of where I was working at I went all in. I started reading books, networking, going to meetups, and even took several Product Management courses. The problem with all those strategies was it didn't teach me anything in terms of getting interviews and that was what I needed actual interviews. Everything I was being exposed to was coming way later after getting the job. This was okay, because I wanted to do the job as well, but the problem was I also needed a job. I started hating my job more and more. The frustration grew, because I was promised a PM transfer if I performed my job well. I did do my job well thank you very much, but nothing happened.

Then I came across Product Gym through a friend and the game changed forever for me. Within 23 days of enrolling, I started getting interviews and I was blown away by the feedback they gave me. If you are reading this review, then you have probably read the others and I was just as skeptical as you too.

I am going on 7 months for this job and what I found was this, none of the courses that I spent tons of time and money on actually prepared me for the job. Why? Because the job is always changing. This isn't sales or banking (where most of the other students came from), this is product and product is ever evolving. Don't expect to learn hack the job, because you can't. I am trying to save you some agony here, because I tried to do that. Nevertheless, I am on the job and killing it, not because of what I learned but because of my work ethic.

In my case, I had to rebrand my entire background while thinking and interviewing like a product manager. Within the first week of applying for jobs, I was already hearing back from 4-5 companies. For anyone who is interested in getting a product management job, put in 100% energy on the Product Gym system and you will be rewarded.

Perhaps the most important thing that I’ve learned in this program, is how to brand yourself. Yes, they teach you the technical skills of product management, but that’s less than half of the battle when actually trying to land the job. Afterall, I’ve seen some of my peers not even show up to any of the classes, but still managed to land multiple offers.

I focused on applying and interviewing each day and I started seeing results within a week. Rich’s weekly coaching calls provided guidance each step along the way. After 5 weeks of interviewing, I finally landed my first offer!

Read More a recent job as a PM after attending Product Gym, and I asked her how the bootcamp was. She actually recommended the bootcamp to me, because she thought I would like Product Management. So, I went to go look at what Product Management was, and it sounded interesting. So I figured changing my career, and I enrolled in Product Gym. Rich was a bit harsh, but I could tell the things he said were definitely truthful and he KNEW what he was talking about. Not THINK, but KNEW what he was saying. Cody was amazingly helpful, and helped me land interviews, and work on my resume. I didn’t even know my resume needed so much improvements until they told me about all of my flaws, and the stuff that I could and should add. Anyways, I couldn’t have landed my current PM job if it weren’t for the great coaches Rich and Cody, and everyone else at Product Gym!!

I was hesitant to spend my money on a bootcamp where I wasn't even sure if I was going to get a return. But I've been applying non-stop and haven't heard back from anywhere at all. The places that did an interview with, I didn't make it past the third... Read More round interviews. So I decided to take the risk and signed up for Product Gym. Right on the first day, they fixed my resume cover letter and linkedin for me. They gave me the support and knowledge I needed to continue applying to more positions and eventually pass the interviews. All I can say is that there is no need to be hesitant with this bootcamp. The only thing you need to do is listen to their instructions and advice and you will land that job.

One thing you should know is that your background doesn’t matter. The Product Gym team knows what they’re talking about. Rich comes from a tech recruiting background, so he knows exactly what companies are looking for, and the lecturers are current Product Managers in different companies who can talk about the field how it is today. Their advice is always up to date and relevant.

In the future cohorts, I hope that they improve the experience for students watching the classes online since the audio quality isn’t the greatest sometimes. However, it’s worth mentioning that Cody and the rest of the PG team troubleshoots it right away!
