Codaisseur Full-Stack Web Development Academy

Cost: €999
Duration: 10 weeks
Locations: Amsterdam
In-person Only
Course Description:

What you'll learn: During this 10-week intensive program, you will learn to build complex websites and even multiplayer games with databases, APIs, and modern front-end technology. We teach you the latest and greatest technologies most senior developers have not even worked with yet – or at least not as intensively as you will. We aim to teach you technologies, tools, and approaches that development teams around the world are looking to implement.

These are the technologies & tools we teach: HTML5 & CSS3 Programming & Algorithms SQL Databases JavaScript & jQuery Test Driven Development Building APIs NodeJS and ES6/7 Syntax React with Redux Service Based Architecture Realtime Multiplayer Games with WebSockets Native iOS & Android Apps with React.

A typical learning day (Online platforms added for remote learners):

Recap
Refreshing the knowledge you gathered the day before, so that you can start the day all pumped

Check-in (Zoom or Discord)
Taking attendance and starting the day together

Live coding session (Zoom)
This is where you go through what you will learn that day. We believe in learning by doing, but you need to be familiar with the concepts first, this is what you will have during the live coding sessions. We don’t send you out to the wild world of coding without any previous support.

Learning by doing (Reader)
After the session, it is your time to learn by processing through our reader. Don’t worry, we don’t let your hands go here either. Our reader contains little instructional videos as well and our teachers will be available to jump in and help.

When you get stuck (Slack/Discord)
No need to worry about this either, because if you feel like you have a unique problem that you cannot seem to solve, you can always have a call with one of the teachers, share the screen and find and get rid of those nasty bugs together.

Group projects (Discord/Slack)
The learning by doing does not stop at your own screen. We believe in the huge added value of group projects and that is why you will have to cooperate in some weeks. We will assign you a group of 2-3 classmates and you will have to develop a cool app together. Teachers are available to help the whole time, but you can learn so much from each other that we do not want to take that chance from anyone.

During the whole day (Discord)
As expressed many times, we know that providing the proper channel for asking questions any time is vital. Therefore the teacher of the day will be available the whole day to answer your questions and you will even get a chance to listen in on what your classmates are asking.

Requirements: Our Academy starts with the one-week Admissions Training Camp. No technical background is required to join. At the end of the week, you'll be evaluated on your motivation, progress and technical skills to determine if you continue in the No Cure - No Pay or Pay Upfront model. We believe that a strong motivation and dedication are the biggest drivers for success. The Admissions Training Camp is a good indicator of how you’ll perform for the rest of the Academy. All of our classes are taught in English. You should be able to effortlessly participate in both technical and non-technical discussions and read and understand technical materials.

When can you apply: Anytime! A new class starts every 3 weeks, so when you apply via our website, you can choose the best starting date for you based on your availability and preferences.

Subjects:
CSS, HTML, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, Test-Driven Development (TDD), React.js, SQL, Node.js, iOS, JavaScript, Android

"Best school I know and worth your investment"

"An amazing experience which secured me a job as a developer within 2 months."

I found Codaisseur after losing my job thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. I was an online marketeer before I started Codaisseur. I knew some basic webdevelopment like HTML/CSS, but that was it. After graduating the Codaisseur bootcamp I managed to secure... Read More

Official Response from Techmongers

Hi there, Lisa here from the Recruitment Team.
Thanks for leaving your review!

First off, let me just say that I am sorry to hear about your experience. We are usually known for our amazing teachers, curriculum and job support!
...and what a pity that... Read More

Our Course is indeed intensive, and our goals are completely aligned! If you don't graduate or don't find a job within the Job Search Period, then we waive all of your tuition fee!! In order to keep this promise, our curriculum is very market-orientated, meaning that we validate everything we teach with our Partner Network. So you are right when you say ''I was forced to learn some things so I could get a job''! Everyone that joins us here at Codiasseur has the same goal -- to find a job!

We have trained over 400 people in jobs over the past few years. Most of our Partner Network come back time and time again because they see that our graduates have the cutting-edge skills and knowledge needed now and in the future!

''They organise one career online meetup in 4 months'' -- hmm, that doesn't sound right :) We have organised 6 online hiring events since the end of summer 2020! We have had over 20 companies participate, with many of our graduates getting hired from them!
But you are right when you say that you have to do the work to find a job! We will never place you in a company. This is something that we are very clear about in all our communication. Every grad needs to find their 'dream job', and we will be there with you every step of the way. Organising workshops, hiring-events, coaching sessions, and passing over validated hiring leads from our partner network!

I would love to continue this conversation with you, feedback is the only way to grow! Send me an email and we can set up a phone call!

cheers,

Lisa

"Really valuable"

I think the whole experience for me has been great! I've been reading some of the negative feedback here and I was a bit shocked honestly. Such a different experience! I started this course during Corona, not having a lot of programming skills, I read... Read More

Since we started during the corona time, we did it from home, so that kind of was a plus for me. Saves travelling time :) So we would have 1 or 2 lectures a day about the subject of that day and the rest of the time you would work on the reader that they created and you could get help from teachers or TA's. Now I didn't need a lot of help, but I do understand, especially since it was in an online environment, that if you need some more help, then yeah you might have to wait a bit. (and then it might feel like you are just all alone, since you're not in a classroom and nobody is there for you!) They would try to help people at the same time with similar issues, or plan in an extra lecture to explain some things if lot's of people were still struggling with it. I feel like they definitely tried to listen to and do something with the students inputs. (Every Friday they asked us to fill in a feedback form.)

About the part where they help you get a job, I understand that people are a bit let down by it. Even though I got hired because of one of their hiring events, that was the only one they organised since I finished the bootcamp 3 months earlier. They do help you out with writing CV, cover letter, setting up linkedIn, you can request practice (tech) interviews or anything else you really need. But yeah, you do have to do most of the work yourself. Just like during the bootcamp, Codaisseur is there to help you out, guide you, but you have to do it yourself eventually. And yeah obviously Codaisseur is trying to earn money, but so are you. You are investing in your future right? You want to get that job somewhere.

Now because of Corona, I'm sure it's a lot harder to get a job for anyone really. I think you also just need to be a bit lucky as well. You can expect to hear a lot from companies that they don't want to hire you because "lack of experience". Which is okay. Yeah, it's only been 11 weeks. They won't hire you purely on experience, they will hire you because you are a great fit for their company. (You check their boxes so to say) But those 11 weeks do show your future company, that you are able to learn new things in a fast pace, intensely and you are committed to it. Keep working on projects of your own after the 11 weeks, to show companies you want to keep learning and creating. That you can work independent as well!

Before Codaisseur I didn't really have an idea of what the programming world really looked like. Even though I did do some online course here or there. Thanks to this experience at Codaisseur I feel like I now know what I do and don't know, and I also see more clearly where I can go from here. That is one of the more valuable things I feel I've gotten out of this experience.
