Codaisseur Full-Stack Web Development Academy

Cost: €999
Duration: 10 weeks
Locations: Amsterdam
In-person Only
Course Description:

What you'll learn: During this 10-week intensive program, you will learn to build complex websites and even multiplayer games with databases, APIs, and modern front-end technology. We teach you the latest and greatest technologies most senior developers have not even worked with yet – or at least not as intensively as you will. We aim to teach you technologies, tools, and approaches that development teams around the world are looking to implement.

These are the technologies & tools we teach: HTML5 & CSS3 Programming & Algorithms SQL Databases JavaScript & jQuery Test Driven Development Building APIs NodeJS and ES6/7 Syntax React with Redux Service Based Architecture Realtime Multiplayer Games with WebSockets Native iOS & Android Apps with React.

A typical learning day (Online platforms added for remote learners):

Recap
Refreshing the knowledge you gathered the day before, so that you can start the day all pumped

Check-in (Zoom or Discord)
Taking attendance and starting the day together

Live coding session (Zoom)
This is where you go through what you will learn that day. We believe in learning by doing, but you need to be familiar with the concepts first, this is what you will have during the live coding sessions. We don’t send you out to the wild world of coding without any previous support.

Learning by doing (Reader)
After the session, it is your time to learn by processing through our reader. Don’t worry, we don’t let your hands go here either. Our reader contains little instructional videos as well and our teachers will be available to jump in and help.

When you get stuck (Slack/Discord)
No need to worry about this either, because if you feel like you have a unique problem that you cannot seem to solve, you can always have a call with one of the teachers, share the screen and find and get rid of those nasty bugs together.

Group projects (Discord/Slack)
The learning by doing does not stop at your own screen. We believe in the huge added value of group projects and that is why you will have to cooperate in some weeks. We will assign you a group of 2-3 classmates and you will have to develop a cool app together. Teachers are available to help the whole time, but you can learn so much from each other that we do not want to take that chance from anyone.

During the whole day (Discord)
As expressed many times, we know that providing the proper channel for asking questions any time is vital. Therefore the teacher of the day will be available the whole day to answer your questions and you will even get a chance to listen in on what your classmates are asking.

Requirements: Our Academy starts with the one-week Admissions Training Camp. No technical background is required to join. At the end of the week, you'll be evaluated on your motivation, progress and technical skills to determine if you continue in the No Cure - No Pay or Pay Upfront model. We believe that a strong motivation and dedication are the biggest drivers for success. The Admissions Training Camp is a good indicator of how you’ll perform for the rest of the Academy. All of our classes are taught in English. You should be able to effortlessly participate in both technical and non-technical discussions and read and understand technical materials.

When can you apply: Anytime! A new class starts every 3 weeks, so when you apply via our website, you can choose the best starting date for you based on your availability and preferences.

Subjects:
CSS, HTML, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, Test-Driven Development (TDD), React.js, SQL, Node.js, iOS, JavaScript, Android

"Best decision I ever made!"

I have recently graduated from the Codaisseur 11 week program and I am so sad for it to be over! I learned more than I could ever imagine and met some really amazing people. The staff at Codaisseur are incredibly talented and so dedicated to helping you... Read More

Advice I would give to future students is to make sure you are adequately prepared. Codaisseur recommend to complete the 30hrs of Free Code Camp beginner Javascript, but I think this really is the bare minimum & you will be on your toes during the academy. I prepared a lot more than this because I was lucky enough to have some free time between my job and beginning the course, for me this really paid off and ensured that the academy was not a stressful experience.

If you want to start a career in web development than I cannot recommend Codaisseur highly enough! Go for it!!!

"Best Coding Bootcamp in the Netherlands"

Fresh out of a research master's program from UvA, I did my research picking the right bootcamp for myself. I considered the price, teacher's quality, location, curriculum, and more. Finally, I picked Codaisseur for a few reasons:

1. It is hard. Only 1/3... Read More

2. The teachers are experienced coders who have been rolling in the industry for years and know what they are talking about. They know coding and they also know how to teach coding. One JavaScript teacher, for example, studied education at UvA, and he was one of the best teachers I have had.

3. The business model. The way Codaisseur works is different from any other average bootcamp. Typically bootcamps charge around 6000 euros up front and they push you out into the market like new born babies. Codaisseur charges only 800 euros and then the next 11k is billed over 2 years in your future employment. So if you don't graduate and do well, they don't get the money. A classic quid pro quo. This makes the teachers really care about your progress and employability (they already do because they are nice people).

I wanted to switch careers and this was the best decision I've ever made. I got an offer after 1 month of job searching.

"Codaisseur helped me change my life for the better"

Let me start by saying that the course was very, very challenging . Ten weeks is a long time to be ultra focused and learn something new *every single day*. I'm only slightly exaggerating when I say there were blood, sweat and tears. Only a little over... Read More

Having said all that, I couldn't be happier with my choice.

I had never coded anything, nor built a single website. My background is in linguistics, and I worked in a cafe for ten years prior to making this switch. But when I started at Codaisseur, I immediately felt I was in the right place. The curriculum, while fast-paced, follows logical steps. From simple HTML and CSS to vanilla JavaScript, and then quickly on to React and Node, the lessons made sure we grasped every aspect of building a web application. The mix of lectures, exercises and project-based learning helped cement the knowledge and skills in different kinds of learners. Asking questions was always encouraged, and teachers (and often teaching assistants) were always available.

The final part of the academy focuses on getting you a job. If you aren't employed after three months, Codaisseur will pay for your education, so it's not surprising that they really want you to succeed. There is a full week of workshops on everything from CV and cover letters to interview and tech assignment practice. I found my dream job after just a few weeks :)

So, to recap:
- Very stressful and difficult
+ Great curriculum
+ Awesome teachers
+ Great job support
