You do have to invest time in reviewing the arterial covered as well as the reading assigned but it is well worth it.

The Job Hackers’ Agile MBA class restores that proper perspective with excellent readings, lectures and discussions on topics such as Cognitive Illusions, Systems Thinking, and Human Motivation (Drive) in addition to more traditional elements. The conversations with fellow classmates during and outside of class were powerful in expanding my perspective and understanding, and I am more prepared to lead teams effectively as a result. The PSM scholarship was the icing on the cake, giving me a globally-recognized certification to help prove to prospective employers the additional value that I bring after having completed this program.

I've done seat-of-the-pants and waterfall project management in work and life, so it seemed natural to consider becoming a Scrum master after a long break from paid work. I came to The Job Hackers' Agile-MBA course with an open, curious mind, not a conviction... Read More that this would be my new career.

I'm now a fan of Apke, Agile, and Scrum. Larry Apke's reading assignments and presentations were lively and fascinating. The reading is wide ranging and gives context for the presentations and dialog that follow. In class, Larry toggles between teaching straightforward Agile and Scrum lessons, and talking discursively about the textured history behind and reasons for Agile and Scrum's growth. The course content far transcends tech. I took away how the development of technology and other products can work with our human needs for affiliation with others, internal drive, and a real-world life outside the job that allows for reflection and renewal. After all, we need to keep working for the long haul. It's not Psych 101, but I did learn more about what motivates us and how we interact at our best and worst.

Will I become a Scrum master? I don't know. But thanks to The Job Hackers, I'm well-informed about Agile and Scrum and better able to engage in complex and iterative work, including life itself!
